Volunteer/Community service: Over 150 hours, 100 in spanish by senior year. I started and lead a group that goes around my city and helps hispanics that are having trouble with school because of a language barrier and tutor them one on one.
Teacher Recommendation:I have solid ones.

Famous New yorker: I talked about Voletta Walace, the mother of notorious BIG and how I want to help her with the Christopher Wallace foundation.

Movie: It was a spin off of Don Quijote de la Mancha. It was about my adventures in the northwest and fighting off bank robbers and crooks. It was pretty funny.

Haiku: It was pretty good, I write poetry quite often so the whole thing rhymed pretty well and had cool meaning behind it.

Thanks everyone!

from what are you? plus i think youure newyorker is not appropiate lol, im not judging, if it was for me i would choose 50 Cent or Jay-z lol

Oh my bad. I’m from Oregon, and i’m hispanic.

And I was gonna do one of them, but I feel like this is more original. Plus, she has some moments on Vh1s documentaries that I have questions about ( not that i’d actually be able to talk to her).

any opinion on chances though?

any opinions on my chances? thanks!

If you were doing ED I’d say you were a shoo-in’ easily.

Even with RD you have an excellent shot at getting in. The only weakness I see is your standardized test scores, which are a bit sub-par. But otherwise you look pretty poised to get in. Iono how difficult it’ll be to get into Stern through regular decision but as an accepted ED student I’d say you have a pretty good shot at it.

Oh wow. Thank you! :D, do you think my chances at BPE are at least okay?

last bump…

157 views? any more comments?

My son is being recruited for volleyball and we were made to understand that Stern’s applicants have very high GPA’s, SAT/ACT, and SAT II’s. It will be much more difficult to get in this year. Also, said they had over 42k applications RD this year. Going to be tough.

Where did you get 42k from? We topped out at a little over 38k.

[NYU > The Office of Public Affairs > NYU Receives Record Number of Freshman Applications](<a href=“NYU News”>NYU News)

That is what the coach told me. Saw that it was over 38k on the website. Don’t know where he got his numbers. He might have been mistaken by adding in the ED applicants as well.

sorry to hijack for a sec but do you think a 2130 / 1400 is good enough for stern (with a 770 in math) for an unhooked applicant from NY…

I think it should be fine, newyorker.

Are there any opinions my chances though? Good, bad, okay, maybe?

average sat out of 1600 is about 1440-1450 for stern so 1400 may b a bit low…but not by much so u can easily make it up in other areas.

Noob, ha, do you think my leadership positions will compensate for my sub-par ACT score?
