Thank you! I promise I'll chance you back if you want and I won't be offended if you say something negative! I just want some kind of perspective!

Your SAT score of 2180, while not disqualifying you for admission, makes Brown admission far from certain. For example, at my school, average SAT for Brown is 2250. I think you have a chance, but your ECs, while strong, don’t offer a hook.

Trust me, your SAT is fine. Not everyone needs to have an SAT score above 2250. Your EC’s are awesome!! That’s great that you got a bunch of stuff geared towards the sciences. It might be too late now, but maybe see if you could get an internship in the sciences. If not, that’s fine too. I don’t think you need to retake Math Level II since Brown only requires 2 subject tests and your other scores are great! Don’t focus on retaking another subject test, but if you really want, you could try bringing your SAT score up in October (although I don’t think you really need too). Good luck with your application!!

Chance back? Appreciate it!! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1196513-chances-will-chance-back-promise.html?highlight=chances+will+chance+back+promise</a></p>

Thanks! Any other chances??

You need to read the following posts to get a realistic view of your chances of getting into Brown =>

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/13036649-post17.html</a></p>

Also, read Post # 24 in that thread …

I think you should apply ED to Brown if you really want to go. To be completely honest, your courseload does not seem to be as competitive as it should be, however that might be due to the nature of your school itself. Other than that, you seem to be set!

Can you please chance me for Brown as well? Thanks!

I think you seem right on par. The SAT scores wont be what get you in but it wont hurt you or anything, they seem right on track. You have a pretty heavy courseload so I think that will help. I don’t know what you got on your AP exams but the amount of APs is really good. I think the thing that will seperate you most is your participation in the summer@Brown program (which I would love to hear about, I am applying for the summer semester). Fingers crossed. Chance me back for Brown?

I think if you apply early decision that you would have a really good shot of getting in. Your summer@brown participation really helps you also. Chance me back?

probably reject

Thanks! I’m planning on applying ED! Anyone else?

I think you match with Brown but it is always hard to tell with any Ivy. I would not be surprised at all if you made it. Hope this helps  Chance me back?

here’s the link I forgot! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1197739-transferring-nyu-need-opinions.html</a></p>

mid reach, maybe a 25% shot

I think the only part of your app that is not as in line with the rest in def. your SAT score. I’m not saying it will disqualify you, you’ll just be in the lower range, which is still fine considering your great research classes (I’m assuming your applying to the engineering school)

The other problem I have is(assuming you’re applying engineering) that your ECs arent science-related (except for the summer thing) which might detract from your overall portfolio. I would emphasize your research in essays (supplement or commonapp)

Good luck applying and on your essays! Brown has like what, 8 supplemental essays?

andrewsun said it. Academics are weaker (at least Brown doesn’t care as much as some others). ECs just aren’t good enough to compensate for weak academics.

Other than your Writing/Math II scores, you are looking good

I would just like to say I’d be so happy to have your stats. Pretty good EC’s. Although I’m not shooting for anywhere comparable to Brown, from what I’ve seen of their average incoming freshman test scores you look like you have a chance. At least a ten times better chance than I do. Good luck.

To be honest, your scores and academic rigor are right at the point where it’s really hard to tell what will happen. I’d apply ED if it’s your dream (I’m going to apply ED as well…I think, in fall of '12!), but don’t get your hopes up (That sounds bad. I don’t mean it badly! Just don’t get super attached to the thought of going there in case you don’t get in.)

In other words, work your butt off on your essays and see what happens! Best of luck!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1198626-chance-me-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I’d say your SAT is a bit low, but you messed up on writing (your CR and Math look great). I’m not sure about Brown, but a lot of colleges put less emphasis on writing, so you should be okay anyway.

If you apply ED, I’d say you have a decent chance (I’d say high match/low reach). If you apply RD, it might be a bit tougher (low-mid reach), but still possible

The ivies are unpredictable, but your stats are great. You GPA and ECs are Brown quality. Your SAT is a little low, but not by much. As the others have said it isn’t going to hurt you. Good luck with the application!
