Hmm…
I am also just curious, about, no offense, but cornell is ranked higher than Brown in USNews, but I found out that acceptance rate of Brown was much lower than that of Cornell. Is there any particular reason?

Of course Brown is way-up-there university for me as well, but my friends and I were just wondering

Thank you! =)

selectivity in admissions is just one factor of rankings. don't go strictly by rankings, as long as both are pretty much in the upper range.

i think ur biggest weakness is ur gpa, which actually isn't that bad. u have a good shot id say

You shouldn't base everything on rankings or acceptance rate. I consider U.S. News to be a not-very-reliable way to choose and compare prospective colleges. Cornell and Brown are both very selective universities but just because Cornell's is higher doesn't necessarily mean it will be any easier to get into. Nor does it mean that one college that is ranked higher than another mean that it is the "better" college for someone. Many top universities can have a seemingly high acceptance rate only because their applicant pool is self-selective.

If you're interested in rankings, look up the "revealed preference rankings" online. It's another interesting way to rank schools.

But yeah, it's not just about applying to a "top" school. It's about applying - and going to - the school that fits and suits your needs/personality best.

Are you applying for financial aid?
If yes, it will hurt your chances (OK, I'm not sure since you're Canadian).

They probably won't even consider the lower SAT IIs since they demand only 2.

You seem very well-rounded, write good essays!

Oh and yes, maybe you could exchange a language teacher with a scince teacher?

I'd admit you :D
