Chances for Bryn Mawr?

I know we all hate these but…

I’m applying for the class of 2023. I think my stats are fine but I’m really worried about extracurriculars since I didn’t really join anything freshman (and part of sophomore year) and they don’t seem that amazing.

Stats:

ACT: 32
SAT: 1450 (700 math, 750 r/w)
10 APs, all passed, mostly 4’s and 5’s
GPA: 3.85 uw

Extracurriculars:

3 years track, 2 years varsity
2 years cross country, 1 year varsity
Communications Director of French Club (1 year)
Vice President of French Club (1 year)
French National Honor Society (2yrs)
German National Honor Society (2 yrs)
NHS (1yr)
High School Page for my state’s House of Representatives (spent a 8 hours/day for a week meeting with legislators, assisting, etc)

OTHER:
Working part-time at Starbucks from summer 2017 to summer 2019
Idk if this is worth mentioning but I’m taking studying two languages at school (each 4yrs)
Want to major in history/political science/IR

I just tend to really underestimate myself and I have no idea if I even have a chance. A lot of my extracurriculars don’t seem that special (I shouldn’t compare myself to others but it’s hard especially reading a lot of these threads :P).

Do I have a shot? Any advice (or other colleges that might be a good fit)? Applying to Wellesley, UMN, UW Madison, Haverford, and Macalester too.

I think you will be a competitive candidate at all of these schools. But some more than others and nothing is guaranteed. If you are a minn resident and like that state flagship as your only guaranteed safety it’s s good list. Plenty of matches and low reaches. Wellesley and ford being the true full stretch schools for you. Write great essays and keep up the good work. Tie your passion for public policy and politics with your ecs in your story somehow. They go together well imho. But I am not a college admissions officer by any means. Just a dad with a lot friends that have lived the process and have come out with some personal observations.

Make sure you and parents understand fully all of the financial implications. If they don’t work don’t waste your time.

My $.02 as a BMC parent: based on your stats, you certainly look like a good candidate for BMC. Work on your “why BMC essay.”

Don’t worry about how your ECs compare to anyone else. Just do what genuinely interests you and don’t worry about what year you started. Good luck!
