As you say, those programs are very competitive. Some have GPA minimums of 3.75 unweighted, although that’s on the low side for actual admission.
What’s your class rank? If they don’t have a GPA minimum, grades will still be a major component, and 3.75/5 is low unless there’s a lot of grade deflation.
They will look for a lot of experience in something medical, through research, hospital volunteering (in a way that actually involves interacting with patients), working in a nursing home, etc.
I would say Brown is too high of a reach. They deny a ton of regular undergrads with 4.0 UW GPAs, there will be even more overqualified applicants denied for such a competitive program.

@usualhopeful Hi thanks for your feedback. my gpa is currently a 3.75 on a 4.0 scale not a 5.0. I know I can bring it up to at least a 3.95 by the time I apply next year. Also, do you have any specific recommendations for medical research? Thanks

@usualhopeful Also my school doesn’t rank its students

I thought maybe it was on a 4.0 scale, I wasn’t sure since it’s weighted, that makes your chances MUCH better. I don’t have any recommendations or much experience with BS/MD programs, but I know there are some very selective summer research programs such as RSI or those which pay a stipend, such as the program at Jackson labs. My guess is if you had a lot of volunteer work or jobs working with patients, admissions might be willing to overlook a lack of research. You should still try to apply for a bunch of research things because for such competitive admissions, you want as much as possible.
