Chances for Cal Poly, UCLA, and others?

I’m currently aiming for Cal Poly SLO, UCLA, maybe University of Washington going for Mechanical Engineering major.

Also, I know it’s quite a stretch, but UC Berkeley would be my #1 choice if I got in.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry but your SAT score and GPA is a little low for the UC’s. Cal poly is competitive so that SAT score is not going to help. EC’s are based on music with no national honors noted.

What is your UC GPA?

ME extremely competitive at all the schools.

SLO/UCLA/UCB: Low Reach
UW: High Match

Do you have any match or safety schools on your list??

@Gumbymom‌ UC GPA: 3.67

I haven’t though about safety schools yet, because honestly it depresses me to think that I won’t be able to get into any school that I really want to. I know that I have to choose at least a few, but I have no idea which ones to pick.

I didn’t mention it because I just learned about it today, but I’m going to (try) to go to COSMOS over the summer. I’ve heard that it’s a good program and will help getting into any engineering school. Also forgot to mention(not sure if it matters) that Sophomore year second semester I got 3 Cs. Junior year first semester I got 3 As and 4 Bs. Theoretically, if I were to – and I am going to finally give it my all – get a 4.0 this coming semester as well as take and ace two community college courses, would that progression have a significant impact on the decision making? What do you think?

And thanks for the help.

It is a good program but it will not help anyone by much.

If you’re going in for engineering, it’ll be really hard to get into UCs, especially Berkeley, since engineering is so impacted and competitive. I think they’re all low reaches. UW is possibly a match/high match. If you’re going into engineering and have no engineering ECs, it’s not that great for your chances… If you can somehow spin your essays so that they include both music and engineering and show your passion, you’ll be alright.

@brendada Alright, thanks for the info.
