In grade 10, I took AP Computer Science A and got a 5 on the exam. I had to teach the class to myself because the teacher left.

Looks like you have a decent chance. If you can get some math/science research in, that would help. You should definitely go for it regardless. :)

Recs and essays man. You're certainly competitive, but be sure to find some way to set yourself apart from all the other math-y people. Research would be a great way to set yourself apart, but don't sweat it too much if it doesn't work out. I think a third of people here have done stuff in high school? I've met people here very similar to your situation, and they got in (again, probably due to recs and essays and whatnot).

You probably deserve to get into every school on that list, and should certainly apply to every school on that list. Realistically, however, I think you probably won't get into MIT or Stanford. That's no shortcoming that's your fault though, it's just the sheer competitiveness of those schools' applicant pools for people with regional level math awards and stuff. If you're looking for a few more match-ish to safety-ish schools, may I recommend the universities of Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan, and Purdue University?

Good luck, and maybe see you at Prefrosh weekend? Who knows?
