Chances for Carlson - and Question

GPA: 3.5-3.6 unweighted, 3.6-3.65 weighted
Course load: 4 Honors Classes, 5 AP classes, 3 AP self-study tests
Rigorous college prep school

ACT: Currently 26 composite (weak math, high English/Reading), but I'm retaking it and shooting for 28 at least (that's what my practice tests reflect)

Average-Good extracurriculars.
Good recommendations.

From Nebraska.

Also - I'm looking into international business, and UMinn requires a second business major if you're taking int. business - any recommendations?

yea i'm goin for carlson 2..........gpa mine is 3.45, i have an act of 30...WI resident. my chances and ur chances r about the same, i would say 25% ish. ssry

you've got good enough grades to get into CLA if you don't get into Carlson and then you can just work hard and transfer in after a few years. Carlson is also expanding next year so that should make it a bit easier to get into.

No one should count on transferring into Carlson after a year or two. It's insanely hard. Most people who get in as freshman wouldn't be able to get in as transfers. The only exception is if your HS record was horrible, which yours isn't. Then if and only if you get near straight A's you'd be able to transfer into Carlson.

Update: My new ACT score is a 30 - I was just wondering if this changes my chances?

I sent in my application last week.

I had a 3.4 and 34 ACT and was admitted to the IT but not Carlson (1st choice) for what it's worth.

It's more competitive than it seems. I have a 4.01 weighted and granted a lower ACT score (26 ick) strong curriculum, APs etc. from MN private school, business internship (don't know if they even saw that, but whatever)... and I was rejected. But! I know my friend got in with a 28 ACT and very similar GPA to mine.
I think if your school profile shows that your GPA is in line with the coursework then you should be okay. Otherwise, I'd say that's pretty low.
That's a great increase in ACT though, that should definitely help

Walt99, Hey thought you mite want 2 hear. I was ranked top 13% in competitve public high school, had act of 30, some biz extracurriculars, had UW of 3.5, Weighted 4.93........and I was admitted just 2 weeks ago.
