Thank You :)

Bump…Anyone?

Anyone…

Your stats all look good. Your SAT writing and CR is a bit low but they probably won’t care too much if your TOEFL is high enough (they give leeway for slightly lower CR and writing scores for internationals).

If you really need no financial aid, you could look at a few more schools. As a no aid international you have a much better chance of going in (especially as a Indian student living in Nigeria…very cool story, write about it in your essays). One of the best Chem Eng programs in the states is at Northwestern (the rest of their eng is meh but their chem eng is insanely good). You might also want to throw in MIT while you’re at it. They’re reaches for anyone but you have good stats, good ECs, and an interesting story. With no finaid needed, you have a decent shot.

You have great chance :)

I can smell oil money…bump

Thank you everyone  Oh, and I got a 115 on TOEFL if that helps.

No point in applying for MIT imho, they are need-blind when it comes to admissions and are extremly selective

Well considering OP doesn’t need any aid…that’s not so relevant. And of course they’re extremely selective. That means OP shouldn’t rest all their hopes on it, not that they shouldn’t try.

OP, you are in a position to write AMAZING essays - Please apply to UChicago- If you manage to write such essays, you might actually get in!

I have similar stats. When I was applying my counselor asked me to apply ED to HYPS. Cornell is a reach because I have heard that internationals are wait listed to compare with other internationals.
HYPS will be a more suited to you and Indians are respected there.

Minnesota has an amazing program and our isn’t cut-throat. Highly recommend it for you.

Why ED Cornell? It isn’t even top 10 Cheme

I feel ED at Cornell is a bad decision when I know for a fact that you are able to get into University of Minnesota for a much cheaper tuition and a better program! UMN has the #3 best program in the county after MIT(which I think you should add to your list) an cal tech. Honestly, you have great credentials! Any school would be lucky to have you :)

Thanks for all the replies guys
I read somewhere that Cornell had a very good engineering programme, so I thought giving a shot there would be worth it.

Oh lord … You heard??? Do not listen to people. Always do your research. Cornell is a really good school. But it isn’t the best for chemical engineering. I would suggest you ED UCB

BTW I don’t think Minnesota will accept you RD. Apply EA
