good recs
good essay

Hispanic descent

interviews for chicago, rice, princeton
aunt who went to princeton

NYU- I'd say VERY good Chance
Rice- Again, good chance!
Chicago- It depends on your major--i'd say good chance
Princeton- a bit of a reach because i don't really see any leadership on your stats (although i don't know if that really matters--your other stats are great!)

It really depends on your major too because some majors are very competitive (NYU film...) but sounds good to me. Good Luck!!!!!!

You can predict P'tn better than I can by rolling a die. The others are, if your essays and rec's are good, matches (although not sure admits). Do you have a safety/financial safety? I would be very surprized if you are not accepted at at least two of the schools on your list, but then again, we have ALL been surprised with the admissions zoo and better be safe than sorry.

jjjj, your GPA, class rank, rigorous curriculum, and strong work history are all in your favor. The fact that you are Hispanic will increase your chances to some degree at all of the schools on your list. However, the SAT I and II scores in the 600's may be a weak point in your application. Which subject areas/subsections are these scores in? You also did not list your AP scores. Scores of 4's and 5's will help, especially if they are in subjects in which your SAT I and SAT II scores are in the 600's. ohio_mom is exactly correct, though, that you MUST have a safety or two on your list. Currently, your list is NYU (probably a high match), and Chicago, Rice, and Princeton which ALL must be considered reaches...not just because of your statistics, but because all have acceptance rates <30%. All reject applicants who are valedictorians, have perfect SATs, and 4.0 GPAs. Even Hispanics. Good luck!

i plan to major in economics. the 640 was in reading

i passed all my AP classes except one.
the one 660 is in english, naturally. my mom doesnt speak english very well (she learned the language 15 years ago) and i guess it has somewhat been passed unto me. i kinda think that all the debate awards help me in that area. 2 nationals, state champ, 500+ points

the 750 is math
the 690 is american history

also, i have a safety. university of florida. they have a good honors college. i know ill get in there. was just curious about the other 4.

Princeton: 35%
U Chicago and Rice: 70%
NYU: 85%
U Florida: 100%

Working 20 hours per week for 4 years will really help, and I think it is more important than a long list of typical EC's. The Math SAT 1 is very high. Princeton is difficult for anyone, but I think you will be pleased with your admissions results overall. Good luck.

yeah. uf is a pretty good school too. they have a very selective honors college (you need a 1400+ and a 4.0) so it works. i just really want to get accepted to at least two out of state.

hopefully rice and u of chicago, but who knows. all 4 are great for economincs.

really funny JJJJ, you think you're in a position to judge my chances and you're still asking for YOURS!!

but i think you do have a good chance at NYU...i talked to a priceton rep. a while ago...its a reach for you, but not unattainable...[trust me, princeton will look at the whole picture]

thebrown - you are applying to stern if i remember correctly. i am applying to cas. stern is a heck lot harder. dont take it as offense. i was just ebing honest. sorry

are you serious? i can get into NYU but not stern and still do business? since i want to do Finance major / Infor sci minor I can do a general course at CAS and supplement it with finance at a local new york college

that would be great...so its much easier to get into cas? [easier than stern] so jjjj you've seen my stats...am i competitive enough for cas?

so if I major in economics at CAS

can I do a finance major at NY insitute of tech. simultaneously or in the same timeframe? i know people who major in a subject and take a course in another...but not majoring at two different places...i probably sound foolish, but hey, its worth a try.

I'm a junior in high school....I still have about eight months do make up my mind.

lol

also....is CAS significantly easier?

and I completley screwed up freshman year...many schools do not even look at freshman year but NYU is private....so how much weightage will they put on it?
