Chances for Class of 2013

I visited Davidson this past spring and loved it the moment I stepped on campus. Chances for acceptance?

**My GPA is lower than one would expect of a student applying to top-tier schools, but that is because my school is incredibly difficult and has absolutely no grade inflation. The GPAs of accepted students from my school are always lower than the average accepted GPA of the colleges because colleges know how rigorous my school is.

I think you have a chance. Admission to davidson will be significantly harder to attain after last basketball season but your ACT is pretty high. I would try the SAT and see how you do on that as well. Are you looking to play sports at davidson (in particular fh)? That could help. Also, make sure your essays really portray a passion for something. Davidson only has 1700 students so they are looking for each one to really be an individual who is going to contribute to their student body bc of a passion they have.

thanks! ive done a lot of work with international human rights, and im hoping to really emphasize that in my application. ive got a pretty big position in a national anti-genocide coalition, im doing an internship helping immigrants apply for asylum, i started my school's save darfur chapter (and i head it), and im doing an independent study on global human rights next year. its something i really really care about, and im hopeful my essays and my reccommendations will express that

that sounds like something they would like as they have one of the best international studies programs (Dean Rusk Program). Are sports a no then? I would also try to look into scholarships asap. There is a lot of $ available but you have to apply early (not early decision, just get your application in before the normal deadline) so i would look at them soon and see if any fit you. Even getting nominated for some of them can help with your admission.

sports are a no, i play for fun with school but im not serious about it. yeah i love the dean rusk program, its part of why i want to go to the school. i did look at the merit scholarship awards...id probably look at the community service/leadership ones. that sounds about right, yeah? im not going to be applying for financial aid, but i know that the nomination could help me with an application. thanks for the advice, i really appreciate anything you could suggest :)

buuuummmppp
