During the beginning of senior yr, my father had kidney failure and was unable to take care of himself. As a result, I have been taking care of him by taking him for dialysis etc.

Ye my mid year grades have taken a beating as a result of my current situation. Please be honest about my chances. I wrote an essay about my current situation and one about my research involving diabetes( I am a diabetic).

although you have great ec's, your lack of ap's and average standardized test scores make JHU seem like a stretch

well my school only allows students to take 1 ap junior yr. However, I am taking 6 aps senior yr. Any thoughts?

oh i see... well i would make sure that colleges know that fact, also your act is a bit low, and sat ii's just average. you might want to take a subject you are good at, because the math i looks sort of bad.

unfortunately I cannot take any more standardized tests since hopkins will not accept anymore. I really was not able to study for either as for the past year my dad had kidney failure and I have been living in utter poverty. I am sending another essay about this. Do you think my chances are somewhat better? BTW, im one of the only 2 people applying to hopkins from my school .

ah... well, explaining what happened certainly will help. as for the applying thing, how does your stats compare with the other persons?

well she has a higher gpa, but same test scores. She is also very wealthy. I however take the hardest courseload at my school, while she does not.
