No slacking off for me senior year. I intend to try to pull my GPA. All these APs are to show colleges I'm not going to slack off with easy classes.

Extra-Curriculars (Grades in)
Fencing Team (11,12)
Key Club (10,11,12)
ARISTA Honor Society -Local NHS chapter (11,12)
NY Blood Center Volunteer - as part of Key Club and also outside Key Club (11,12)
Do I need more extra-curricular? Though in my opinion, any more then 1 extra would seem insincere perhaps?

Chances for these colleges. If available, I'm applying directly for computer science majors in them.
Carnegie-Mellon University
Cornell University
Georgia Institute of Technology
University of California - Berkeley
University of California - San Diego
University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign
University of Maryland - College Park
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
University of Southern California
University of Washington - Seatle Campus
University of Wisconsin - Madison

Based on my research, these colleges are some of the best for computer science undergrad studies. Eventually, I'll narrow the list down to which ones are best suited for me.

Thanks for the chancing. For my grades and record, I really want UW or UIUC.

Would you mind asking your brother for me about the computer science program? I’m interested in some primary source information. I’m curious as to the work load (Some computer science programs require you to live and breath for computer science, or so I hear.) and particularly intern and career prospects.

On the UIUC CS website, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, and Intel are listed as recruiting and research partners. I also read somewhere online that Microsoft hires more CS grads from UIUC than any other school.

The one thing lacking in your college application I think is leadership. Can you possibly get some senior year? Also, work experience and/or an intership would be awesome for a comp sci major.

Also, do you know what your class rank is? Just more info about the competitiveness of the school you attend.

Your scores are pretty solid, but for a comp sci major at CMU they’d have to be higher. CMU is one of the most selective for comp sci. Enough said. Very difficult to get in. I have relatives who live out there so I know a ton about that place.

I know you’re going to retake, which is probably good.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful with the other colleges :/

I’ll try to get into some leadership position. No guarantees but I believe there is one option I can go for.

As for class rank, I’ll find out senior year. I’m quite confident I’m at least in the top 20% at the least but seeing as I can be quite the pessimist, I’m probably estimating much lower then I ought to.

Bill73, that’s great news for those applying to UIUC who ARE fans of Microsoft. Unfortunately, I’m not of a Microsoft fan. I’m more of a Google and Linux fan.
