So yeah~ help?

Sounds really good. But…if you want to increase your chances, apply for as many of the schools as you can (up to 5), particularly H&SS. Probably can only apply to one school ED, though. It would be easy to change to IS, or double major (according to my very reliable sources), if you got into another of the colleges. Do you want one chance or five? Of course, it can be futile to apply to SCS or CIT, if you’re not interested, but H&SS, MCS…why not?

Yeah, I’m probably going to apply to as many as possible. SCS, Tepper, H&SS, maybe MCS?
I have to take my Physics & Chemistry SAT Subjects for SCS & MCS, but I’m anticipating decent scores on those…

I love Comp sci & I’m interested in business and heard that IS is sortof a combination of the two~ So that’s why I’m interested in that program :D

I’m hoping to visit CMU soon and see if I should really apply ED. We’ll see ~

Hello makotofu
I’m currently a sophomore majoring in IS at CMU. Oh, and I’m also from Cali <3
First of all, I would like to tell you that your GPA and extracurriculars sound solid. Make sure that you mention your leadership positions. And amazing essays that reveal about who you are (instead of what you did) are always a huge +.

As for me, I didn’t know that you can apply to multiple colleges when I applied to CMU. So I ended up applying to MCS(Mellon College of Science) as physics major. I got in, and of course, I quickly learned that physics wasn’t my type of study… eck!
I was interested in CS before, but also had my interest in business as well. Luckily, I found out about the IS program at CMU (our program is one of the BEST in the nation <3), and decided to apply for transfer. Unlike other majors, you actually have to apply to the IS program in order to transfer, and let me tell you right now, if you are interested in the IS program, make sure that you put it as your top choice. It is much easier to start with IS program from the beginning, then to transfer into the program later on. Also, if you are not currently in H&SS, you also have to go through internal school transfer.
Luckily, I was admitted to the IS program during this summer, and I’m absolutely loving my major right now! :)

I’m from a town next to Pasadena, and I’m a big fan of SoCal weather. Thus, I’m not a big fan of Pittsburgh weather ;]
But I like CMU and the overall vibe.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions! Oh, and hopefully you’ll like the campus when you visit.

May I ask when you are planning to visit?

I might be visiting in 2 weeks o_O but not completely sure yet. If not then, I will visit in January for the sleepover visit :D

I’ll definitely put IS as my first choice when applying, but I’ll make sure I apply to other schools too… Can I get into IS & others or if I get into IS do I just not get into the others I put on my application?

I’m from San Diego and honestly, I really wish it were colder/less sunny here D: It’s way too bright/hot for my liking :P
