Any comments would be greatly appreciated :). Will chance back!

An athlete! I’m a ski racer but hey! I can only talk about a few of the schools you are applying to…

Colby looks like a match for you, your subject tests aren’t required there…but I think you have a great shot with a 2080 and a great GPA, seems as though Colby has been pretty jocked out lately, so athletics will most likely boost your app.

Middlebury also appears to be a match, similar to Colby, with a little bit higher of marks in terms of some test scores and GPA though, you are definitely in range…

Tufts! Have you taken the ACT more than once? Have you taken the SAT more than once? Tufts considers SUPERSCORES! So if you crushed Math and then Crushed English it would be to your benefit to submit both of those tests!

I hope you run fast/jump high in the college of your choice, best of luck.

Thanks so much for you response keepingcalm21! That is very encouraging :). I have already submitted my apps, so I won’t get to take the SAT again, unfortunately. My feeling is that Tufts is quite a reach because of my scores. Good luck with your ski racing, and college choice! Its so hard waiting until April…

Middlebury low reach
Tufts low reach
Colby high match
College of William and Mary
Kenyon high match
Occidental match
Dickinson (EA)
University of Washington match
Elon University (EA) accept

(academic state champions- what?) those schools are all within your reach, the only school I see you being iffy on is Tufts- your essays for Tufts make or break you (for any applicant) I was at their voices program and they said they love reading “creative” and “corky” essays

hmmm… thanks oohtobeagooner. My essays were pretty strong for tufts, but I don’t know if they were “quirky” enough, but I think they did convey my personality pretty well. I’m not sure why I added the Academic State Champions award, now that I think about its kind of irrelevant. It just means that our varsity cross country team had the highest collective GPA in the state.

Great GPA and SAT, and the fact that you have language is great. Dont worry about EC’s just come out with a strong essay about what you have learned from what you have done. They want to see that you have put in quality time, not so much quantity.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Middlebury is my top choice. I had an interview with an alumni that went really well :), but Im worried about their 17% acceptance rate. Just to add some more background info I am a white girl from Washington state. I am planning to major in international studies/foreign languages. I wrote my common app essay about my love of French, and I think it turned out really good.

Your GPA is a little suspect with that class rank is my only question. I mean 3.96 and right at the top ten percent? Your school must not grade too harshly.

Thanks Oliviez! Thirrdplanet, here is some more information about my school. My high school is in the top 215 public high schools nationally. I think there are a few factors that contributes to the seeming imbalance between gpa and rank: 1) there are lots of highly motivated and highly intelligent kids at my school. 2) I think the grading system is pretty fair. I have worked hard to get A’s, but unlike some other competitive schools I have friends at, an A is not practically impossible to get, or a sign of being a genius. 3) Because GPA is not weighted there are kids who are ranked slightly higher than me but have taken easier classes. Hope that explanation makes sense!

annarunner, i think you have a great shot at all of these schools. those SAT II’s are very impressive. i’d say you have a very good chance at all of these schools except for Tufts and Middlebury. these two tend to be unpredictable, like the ivies, but i would still say you have at least a 50/50 shot at both of them. good luck!
