Chances for college of engineering

Hello all, I’m applying to the college of engineering. I was deferred from UPenn and would really like to stay close to home for college, so I’m very interested in Villanova. I was wondering if in the admissions process there was any difference in which major you apply to? Are certain ones easier, etc. Also, how can you express interest in the school? The essay isn’t very specific to Villanova. I’m worried because I’ve seen some applicants with high stats get waitlisted or rejected. Thank you! These are my stats:

GPA: 4.17/4.33 UW (unweighted; all As and A+s)
Class Rank: 4/330ish
SAT I: 2230 (Math 800, Writing 760, CR 670), took twice- first time I got 2170
SAT II: Math II - 780, Spanish 630, Biology M 630 (I am going to take this again; I didn’t study for it)

Work Experience: worked at dad’s office summer and into senior year.

please someone help me out!

Hi!

I know the School of Buisness looks at SATs the hardest. I don’t know much about the engineering school, but i think my friend said it goes Liberal Arts -> nursing / engineering -> VSB in terms of flexibility & how critical sats are.

I too am from PA & missed 3 months of school my jr yr because of medical reasons!!! I applied liberal arts & because i visited campus a bunch of times i figured out a way to relate the essay to Villanova.

If you want PM me

your stats are good. your lack of leadership skills is a bit concerning.

Also, villanova is a pretty big service oriented school. I don’t know if admissions takes that into account, but having a good set of community service experiences will definitely be a plus.

OP: your stats and EC’s are on par with my D who was accepted into engineering (early action) for the fall of 2015. We Here’s a link to the common data set. Look at C7 to see what’s impt for admission.

Best wishes to you.

You’re stats are very good, so you don’t need to place emphasis on academics in your supplemental essays. You should focus on leadership and service (if possible incorporate diversity) since that is the focus after academics. I’m not sure how the current supplemental essays are phrased but for me there were two: Augustinian values -> service and community/inclusiveness, and what are you passionate about -> leadership.

I’m a senior engineer so pm if you like. Good luck, I think you’ll get in.
