Hooks: Geographical Location, rigor?

***I started high school with a 2.7 due to an administrative confusion causing classes i took at the high school in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades (math and science) to count on my high school transcript, and they are refusing to take it off
(i tried to explain this scenario in my app)
I finished all of high school math in my sophomore year, then earned a few credits in college

Essays: solid
Letters of Rec: Solid
Most rigorous courseload available for my school
school size:1550
puts very few into elite schools

i am hoping they will overlook my less than stellar gpa/ec's!
what do you guys think?

i like your sat II physics score… the exact same thing happened to me this december

3.7 uw is not bad at all esp considering you say you have the most rigorous courseload possible and have those crappy middle school ones on there

overall i think you look like a good applicant, i cant tell how qualified you are because you dont have courses listed but youve probably taken ap calc physics and other sciences

good luck! i hope we both get in

hmm… not so high in my opinion. 20% maybe? you said your school puts very few into elite schools and cornell engineer is a pretty good school. plus you are top 20% of your school…

Your gpa is soso, ACT is good, EC is soso. SAT II is a bit weak… but im sure you already have a general idea since you put ouch! everywhere lol

i don’t think my school not putting many into elite schools hurts me!
the entire state of montana doesn’t put many into top schools

every year there will be 2 or 3 that go

650 in physics = bad, which doesn’t translate well for an engineering major.

is a 650 really a deal-breaker?
i tried to slip in my essay how i take IB physics which is single-pd two year course that goes more slowly (and indepth? heh probably does though) so that I took the test before finishing the topics covered on satII

yeah, i just have a pretty horrible teacher in physics.
so everything on the test i pretty much had to teach myself.

but the rest of my test scores are pretty good, so i hope they will be willing to overlook it

bump…
