I have currently taken 2 SAT II for Chemistry and American History and now I am awaiting the results. I am going to take 5 more SAT II next year.

I am going to take 3 AP's independent study because my school doesn't offer any AP classes.

I haven't taken any PSATs or SATs and will take them next year. I took a practice SAT from Princeton Review and scores a 1900 without studying for it, so I think after taking the Princeton Review course, I will get a better score.

The only thing I am worried about are my New York State Regents exams. I got a 83 on the Earth Science, a 86 on the Biology, a 92 in Math A and a 96 in U.S. History and Government. I am taking the regents for Chemistry, Math B, and Spanish this year.

after reading this, if i improve my test scores...do you think i can get into Columbia or any other Ivy League school?

please comment....

Hi. No one here can accurately appraise your acceptance probability. Work hard over the next two years and cross your fingers. Devote any time you are currently planning to spend on this website (or otherwise thinking about your chances of admission) to other activities if you wish to maximize your odds. Good luck.

Hey, since when did state exams have ANY bearing on college? They never even SEE those scores, much less care about them. Those tests are simply for the state to assess its education system--colleges don't give a damn about these. In my experience, the only people who fail these are those who end up dropping out of high school. A "bad" score, as long as you pass, is fine.

Also, in terms of tests, you will have to be a good test taker to get into and perform well at Columbia. If it makes you feel any better, I got a 1990 on my PSATs without practice and then took the SATs wihtout practice and got a 2150. I'm hoping to raise this, with a bit of studying, to 2250-2300. It's really not that hard. But yeah, like the last post said, think about this a bit but don't fret. Continue to live your life--what colleges care about most is whether you're a real person or not, not how many hours you spent on this website comparing numbers. Go out and be yourself. And good luck.

Heh I don't ever remember studying for PSATs and I got a 223. However, now I wish I had because something in the 230s would have helped. But I didn't have to luxury of taking a test prep class.

Definitely take more outside enrichment/AP courses. I REALLY don't think you need to take 8 SATIIs - that's just overkill. Pick 3 or 4 that you think you will do the best on (Math I or II being one of them).

the only thing is though... the nys regents exams come up on the transcript so colleges do see my scores...do you think they will look at those scores even if i do better on my sats, sat II and aps?

How did you do on your Spanish regents today?

Btw, I don't think colleges care about regents grades.

but a 83 does look pretty bad when i am a 96+ student...

any chances at columbia though?

No. Clearly you lack reading comprehension ability. See above.
