University of Florida
Lehigh/UPitt

Thanks so much!

“it was kinda a big deal”

an arangetram seems like a really big deal. you’ll get in to at least 2 of these places. try to finish your gold award before 12th grade so you can write about it for college apps. your sat score and gpa are good enough though

You have a really good chance I think! You seem very smart, you’re involved in many things but I can also tell that you have certain passions. It’s really important to show colleges that you have passion for things so the fact that you’ve been dancing for a really long time, and you’re in many culture-related EC’s, and you still have many EC’s involving dentistry will really help you get in! Good luck!!

thanks for replying! and yeah, i really hope it’s enough though because these programs are very very competitive. But yeah, good luck to you too!

When admissions to the BS/DMD aren’t made straight out of high school, I indicate how hard it is to get into the undergraduate school instead, and the conditions for each.

UF: Safety (UF is unpredictable for people with files like yours; additionally, you don’t get into the 0-7 DMD until the end of the freshman year, in which case keep a 3.75+ GPA in freshman year and take 2 science courses)
BU: High match (I go with what I know of the BS/MD, which is very competitive)
Rutgers: Safety (like UF, admission to the 0-7 DMD isn’t done straight out of high school; maintain a 3.7+ GPA after 2 semesters at Rutgers for best chance)
Lehigh: Reach (what’s on Lehigh’s website indicates that the BA/DMD is Lehigh/UPenn instead, so you need to have a SAT score competitive for UPenn to get into that program)
NYU: Reach (NYU combined dental is a reach for anyone, with only 10 seats)

At least all the reaches are reachable. This is even more painful than the first time I chanced for 0-6 PharmD programs.

thank you catria for the advice! yeah, i was really aiming for the BU combined program, that is my dream school, so I’m glad someone else thought that it was a high match as well. And oops, i meant upenn :P. I know that there are some programs with UMDNJ/NJDS that are done with various NJ schools such as NJIT, TCNJ, Montclair State that you can get accepted when you are still in high school. Do you think those would be good matches for me as well?

bump bump bump!

Look into Univeristy of Pacifics accelerated dental program. I just got my letter of acceptance last month with a 720 math 700 reading and 770 writing and a rank of 5\700. My ECs were similar to yours except I had no dental related ECs but ones relating to medicine.

NJIT: Match

Thanks for replying djanks but I’m looking to stay in the east coast. And thanks catria

some updates: I have been inducted into NHS and I retook the SAT and got a 2300 superscore (800 Math, 770 Writing, 730 CR) and took the SAT Math 2 and got an 800.

another update:
SAT Chem: 800
and I took the SAT again and now my superscore is 2390 (790 in writing)
Also, I have an A in chemistry this year

I don’t think accelerated dental programs take writing into account that much… no more than accelerated pharmacy do.

okay, good because that’s my only like non perfect score that I’m gonna send. I’m also looking at Case’s PPSP program, do you think that I have a chance at getting in?

Case Western PPSP: Reach (it’s perhaps an even higher reach than HYPS)…

Hey here is a girl who got into the NYU program, but got rejected from BU. You have better stats than her too. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/811173-chances-accelerated-dental-upenn-lehigh-bu-nyu-muhlenberg.html

Where did you end up going? I’m going to be a sophmore in high school. I Live in new jersey and was looking for suggestiokssuggestioks.
