Chances for Comp. Engineering Transfer?

I'm currently a freshman at the University of Tennessee and I was wondering if I should apply here. I know engineering admissions are very competitve, so I'm wondering if I at least have a shot of getting in. In high school, I had a 3.7 GPA, ~4.1 weighted, 32 ACT composite (33 math, 32 science), but very few extra curriculars (astronomy club, JROTC, some NYLF forum at UCLA). Right now at UT, I'm enrolled in Honors Calc I and Chem, Engineering Fundamentals, and English I, expecting between a 3.8-4.0 GPA for the first semester.

First of all, will being a student at UT (with a pretty mediocre engineering program) hurt my chances very much? Also, how much do they weigh high school stats for transfer students? Any input would be appreciated.

I like your chances. Definitely apply.

Thanks, I definitely want to give it a shot. I haven't looked into Michigan thoroughly enough however:

Prerequisites include:

* four semester credits of English composition
* two years of math including Calculus I, II, III
* linear algebra and differential equations
* general physics I and II (calculus-based) with labs
* one semester of general/inorganic chemistry or higher and labs (Chemical Engineering will also require organic chemistry)
* one semester of a computer course in "C" or "C++."
* three or four courses taken in the humanities and social science areas are recommended

There's no way I can take all of these classes in my first year. Does anyone know if it's possible to take any of these after admission, or during the summer before the fall semester?

I think you should apply.
