Chances for Concord Academy and Exeter

Hey everyone!
I applied to Exeter and Concord academy as a freshman
I was home schooled for the year of seventh grade and I now attend a religious private school.
Grades of first term:
Latin: B+
Math: B+
Social Studies: A-
Religion: A+
English: A-
Science: B+

My grades last year when I was home schooled were better. My interview at Exeter went very well ( at least I think it did) and she seemed very interested in me. Concord academy I think did well also..

ECs:

Synchronized swimming: 6 years
Regular swimming: 6 years
Volleyball: one year
Piano: 2 years
photography: 1 year

I also wrote some books in third grade and I also won a poetry contest. (I love to write) I also did the program called Nanowrimo where I'm supposed to write a story in the month of November

I read 117 books in 2012
I also have a Youtube channel that I told them about, Exeter seemed very interested in this.
I also work at a local camp as a CIT (counselor in training)
I did 20 hours of community service as teaching little kids how to read
I wrote a play and it was performed at my school

my essays were pretty good, the two for Exeter I think I did very well but the one for Concord Academy was okay...

I really am into writing, reading, photography and I love to learn!

Thanks so much for reading! :)

i think my reccomendations were pretty good.
my ssat scores were average… I could have done better… but I’m trying not to worry about it. it’s only one step of the application :)

Can someone please reply? :/

You seem like a great applicant! Don’t worry…all will be well :)

Is this camp in NH?

When you say your SSAT scores were average, what does that mean? The average at Exeter is 94% and the average at Concord is somewhere between 87-90%, so were you 94% or between 87-90%?

You didn’t list your specific classes… Latin I or II, Honors?, Pre-Alg, Alg I, Geometry, Honors? Are you in all Honors classes?

Writing is your strength? It should shine through on your essays.

Swimming is your other strength. Does Concord have a pool?

Not enough info to give a fair chance critique.

@bshopeful2013 my ssat score was a 89% i am in Latin I honors, algebra 1 honors. Next year if i were to stay at my school i woild have four honors courses. Concord does not have a pool but they have a volleyball team. Exeter has a pool though, I hope this give some more info! Sorry I wasnt really thinking about that haha! Thanks!

@EdwardWitten no, it is at the priate school Brooks in MA. Maybe you have heard of the school?

Thank you @FutureExonian15

I think you have a decent shot. I bet your essays were better than you are giving credit for, given that love writing. Your love for writing is probably the hook that just might get you in both.

Wow, thank you! I hope you get accpeted to the schools you applied to as well! @bshopeful2013 by the way, what schools did you apply to??

@livelaugh22l - The ave SSAT at Concord is 84%, but keep in mind that’s one of the less important factors. Most important (at Concord) is your school experience, and in particular your transcript and letters of recommendation.

Concord actually does have a pool, but it’s an outside one, so it doesn’t really help you. It’s used for social events when the the weather is warm, and for summer camp. A couple of years ago at the start of school they had a nighttime pool party with the movie Jaws projected on a wall next to the pool (and students in the pool).

@photodad oh olay! Yeah I didnt think the SSAT were very important in the scheme of things. Wow! I didn’t even know they had an outdoor pool! Thats awesome!

How many views on the YouTube channel? The grades seem mediocre for Exeter where all grades are usually A to A+. If you tell them that you did 20 hours of community service, you’re ruining the point of community service. It’s to benefit the community, not count the hours. When I went back and looked at my community service chart, I had about 150 hours for the month. But it’s not something you tell schools. You tell them why you love it, why you do it, and what it means to you. If you told me what you wrote in the original post in an admissions interview, I would get the impression that you are doing it for the paper grade, not the actual gratification. And I would deny you for it.

There is about 5000 views and i didn’t tell them how many hours, i just put it on here @PxAlaska

@PxAlaska also I started my YouTube channel last May.
