Chances for Cornell and UMich Early

Cornell(ED) - Environmental Engineering
UMich(EA) - Engineering (Undecided)

Senior. White male. Approx income of 200k.

My unweighted GPA is 3.66.
ACT: 35
SAT Subject Tests: Math 2: 790, Physics: 790

Total of 11 AP classes.

4 Junior Year: APUSH (4) AP English Lang (3) AP Physics 1 (3) AP Chemistry (3)
6 Senior Year: AP Multivariable Calculus, AP Biology, AP US Gov, AP Statistics, AP Computer Science, AP Literature

Extra Curriculars listed on Common App: Spring and Winter Track for 3 years, about 10-12 hours a week. Research at local university on electrical engineering, specifically Optoelectronics, started in summer of senior year and still researching there. Local volunteering at my local beach and pond for 11th and 12th grade.

What are my chances, specifically ed to Cornell?

Copy pasted someone elses format and forgot to change my junior year courses…

Your GPA is a bit low. Low reach for Cornell ED

Yeah, it’s mostly due to my freshman/sophomore grades. I stepped it up in junior year and earned a 101 weighted gpa for that year (compared to my overall, 96) and this year I have 104.17 with the quarter ending next week.

Yes, your GPA is going to be a problem for UMich too. It is pretty much out of the admission range and they view GPA and course rigor to be most important.

Yeah I’m not expecting to get in to be honest. Not much I can do about it now sadly.

I’d say low reach for cornell, and a match/low reach for Michigan. Chance me bad please?

Bump

Same boat as you bro. High scores bit low on the GPA. Im applying to Cornell Human Ec ED. I know Cornell Engineering is incredibly competitive stats-wise, so the GPA might hurt you

Ate you applying to CALS or engineering? If say lower reach for CALS and higher reach for Engineering

My definition of reach might be different from others on this forum, but I would say Cornell is a high reach. IMO low reach when it comes to Ivies means you’re highly competitive, with chances 5-15% above normal acceptance rate.

GPA is a huge problem and ECs besides research seem a bit weak. I don’t really think you would have a better chance at Cornell than the average applicant, even with ED boost.

If your junior year grades were amazing and your senior year first quarter grades are basically all As, then your GPA might not be as much of a problem. But still reach for Cornell like most other applicants to Ivies

Yeah I had all As last year and all A+'s this year with 6 APs and 1 honors, really trying my best.
