Chances for Cornell ED, Lehigh, Bucknell, Rochester, and more

ECs: (most important)

Applying to engineering schools at: Cornell (ED), Lehigh, Bucknell, Rochester, Northwestern, and WashU (i have safeties, too---don't worry)

Thanks! I'll try to chance back!

by (most important) i mean i only listed the key ECs

What is your class rank? I assume above top 5%. If so, then you are solid all around with good grades, strong curriculum, very good SATs, and nice ECs. My guesses:

Cornell ED = low match (50 - 66%)
Wash U, Northwestern RD = low matches
Lehigh, Buckell, Rochester = matches (66 - 90%)

Low match for Wash U and Northwestern? Do you realize how competitive those 2 schools are, perhaps more so than Cornell RD? Both those schools are mid reaches.

Cornell ED = Low Reach
WUSTL = High Reach
Northwestern = Reach

Cornell ED=Low Reach
WUSTL: Reach
Northwestern: Match

Cornell: High Match
Lehigh: Match
Bucknell: Match
Rochester: Match
Northwestern: Low Reach
WashU: Reach

Yes, I do. This student has a 1490 SAT with good ECs and very high grades with 11 APs. I stand by that guess. He is at least 50/50 there and suspect he will get into at least two of three, including Cornell ED.

You are right on target for all of your choices. You know exactly where you should be applying. Good luck to you.

Cornell Engineering is extremely competitve. I think it is their most selective college by far.
Salutaturian at our HS was not accepted, but went to Wash U. St Louis. She turned down Tufts, U. Mich and others.

Cornell Eng is the most selective college in Cornell University.
Correction to above post.

Just to correct someone above, I’ll have taken 9 APs by graduation, not 11. The 11 was to indicate that I took the first 3 listed in 11th grade.

I’m worried about Bucknell. My school’s Naviance graphs for my reaches—Cornell, WashU, NW—are what to be expected for reaches, a healthy of mix of red and green. Kids with my stats (~3.9, 2100+ SAT) do well at Rochester and Lehigh, which is why I hope they’re matches. However, Bucknell has wait-listed a couple kids with my stats but not accepted any; the accepted average is closer to a 3.7 and an SAT of about 2000. I know the two kids who were accepted and neither had a hook—great guys, though. So from history, it doesn’t look as if I can call Bucknell a match solely based on my school. Any other thoughts?

is UVA a big reach?

Cornell = low reach
WashU and Northwestern = low reach
Lehigh, Buckell, Rochester = match

Cornell = as good a match as an Ivy can be. Wash U = match.All the others are safetie’s.

I think the toughest ones on your list are Cornell, Wash U, and Northwestern, but I still think you’re a solid candidate! Good luck.

thanks for all the feedback, guys
can anyone chance me for UVA SEAS EA?

Bump! 2 weeks til early apps go out!

Do a couple of family relations help me for washu? Uncle (B.S.) and grandfather (M.D.) though I haven’t really shown interest to washu and I’ve heard it’s big on that.

You have great chances for all
