<p>But your GPA will be looked at in the context of your competitive hs school. And you said you are in the top 10%. Besides, your SAT scores are fabulous. Just write a compelling essay about why you want to go to Cornell.</p>
<p>Fred, if you have good essays and recommendations, you have a very, very good chance. I'd be surprised if you didn't get in, even if you weren't a minority.</p>
<p>I'd be surprised if he didn't get into MIT or caltech with those stats and being a minority with good essays, better ECs than most people I know at Cornell, and crazy good test scores. I'd say you have a great shot at pretty much any school in the country.</p>
<p>The rank will hurt you but considering you are a URM with very strong SATs (I know a guy weaker than you in SATs and wayy weaker in GPA get into Harvard as URM) I think you're a shoo-in.</p>
<p>Looking like you're more or less good to get in. Stats and activites are remarkably similar to my own, and I'm pasty, white and got in RD. So barring incoherence in essays or sudden death, i would guess you'd get in, though these days it's a crapshoot basically everywhere.</p>
