Chances for cornell university as a junior transfer

what does it take to get into Cornell as a junior transfer?

GPA?

what should i write in my essay for my poor high school performance

NEED ADVICE!

Cornell says a 3.3 college GPA minimum, but it’s generally acknowledged here on the boards that applicants need at least a 3.5 for a fighting chance. Also, Cornell is incredibly fit based. Not only do you need good grades, but a strong essay as well, explaining why you want to transfer and why Cornell would a better place to continue your education than your current school.

What are your stats? It’s easier for us to chance you instead of telling you what you need to get in, as it’s hard to pinpoint hard facts about admissions.

o

horrible high school & SAT, i just got off the phone with the Dean, they said it wont matter as much, SAT’s dont have to be submitted!!
i go to Fairleigh Dickinson University (moderate) big though
1rst Semester of my freshman year 4.0
i took history, lit & Comp, Freshman Seminar, Psychology, Earth Physics, Biology of Nutrition
2nd 4.0
Business Law, History II, Lit & Comp II, Computers, Cultural Arts

about to become a sophomore and will get a 4.0, and will apply by then, when my 3rd semester is done,
3rd semester : Physics of Medicine and Science, Business, Logical Thinking, Middle Eastern Politics, Masterpieces of Literature, Global Challenge (FDU requirement)

4th semester i wll register to take: College Mathematics, Macroeconomics, if i can a foreign language, Perspective in individual (FDU requirement), and some other class
i also intern at a law firm 5 x a week

i want to major in either philosophy or political science

Transfer admission into the College of Arts and Sciences is pretty difficult(14%). If my memory serves me right, I think it’s more difficult than admission as an incoming freshman.

That being said, I think you have a chance. I would recommend that you apply for Spring of next year. That is, during your first semester of sophomore year. Apparently, Spring admission into CAS is easier than Fall admission…

I had similar stats to yours: ~3.7 high school GPA, 4.0 college GPA and I didn’t submit my SAT scores(I didn’t take the SATs). I would suggest that you submit your SAT scores, though. If you show that you have been able to manage good grades at the university level for 1.5 years, then your SAT scores shouldn’t even matter.
