Chances for Cornell?

Currently a junior at a somewhat competitive public HS in NY (top 100)

Planning to major in physics.
GPA: 92 at the end of 10th grade, but I finished first semester of 11th grade with a good 96
SAT: Super score: 680 CR, 780 M, 770 W. Will probably retake in October
SAT II: Math II 800, Chem 800, Math I 750, Bio M 730. Taking physics and maybe French in May.
AP's: Junior year - US History, Psychology, Physics B, Calc AB. Senior year (planned) - Economics, French, English Literature, Physics C, Bio, Calc BC, maybe Statistics.

Varsity swimming 3 years. Captain senior year
Oboe playing since 6th grade. All county (Nassau) every year since 8th grade. Auditioning for all-state next year. I'm the principal oboist of Children's Orchestra Society, which is run by Michael Dadap and Yeou-Cheng Ma. I will mostly likely win its competition, therefore performing in Lincoln Center in May 2012.
Member of the math team. I haven't done anything noteworthy in past years, but I finished 13th in Nassau County overall and qualified for the All-star team. I will compete in the NYML and ARML later this year.
I volunteer at a hospital every Sunday morning, doing various jobs and errands. As of now I have about 100 hours, aiming for 200 before applying for college.
I will either be lifeguarding this summer at the local pool, working full-time for the whole summer, or I will be a teaching assistant at my school's music program.

Chances for Cornell? Other top 50 schools?

Your upward trend in GPA is a good sign that you are becoming a better student, which colleges look for. Solid ECs. I think you will have a great chance at Cornell, if you get that CR score up, just read books and magazines, that works for me.

You should be a competitive applicant at most top 50 schools, with the exception of HYPSM schools, no offense.

Chance back please,

If you raise your SAT score, I would say you have a solid chance. Improvement never hurts, like you did in your GPA. Good luck :)

UC Berkeley
UC Santa Barbara
UMichigan
Chicago
UIllinois Urbana Champaign

you shouldn’t have a problem getting into michigan and WashU. I think you have a decent chance at Cornell too, but I don’t know enough about the others to give a sound opinion. good luck with them all
