Chances for Cornell?

I need to get into this school. I want to be a vet, so which college do you
think I'd apply to (or which would be easier for me to get into, you think?
Also, I am a Junior in a Biological Sciences Magnet High School.

Anyway, here are some stats.

SAT: like 2090 superscored.
1st: 800W 600M(i know) 640R
2nd: 650M 590R 670W (I went down because I was extremely sick when I took it, but am definitely retaking and will study and easily get a 2200)

Subject Tests taking next month.
Chem, Us history and Math 2

ACT: also will take soon, probably going to score in 30's.

Classes and GPA:
I currently have a weighted 4.1 GPA for grades 10 and the first semester of 11,
3.6 unweighted for 9 & 10 (that sounds ridiculous, I know, but my counselor is a moron)

9th:
PE: B/B
Spanish: B/B
Drama: B/A
H English:A/A
H Biology: A/A
Geometry: B/A

10th:
H Chem: A/A
H World History: B/A
Alg2: B/A
Spanish2: B/B
Health: A
Russian (got 3 years of this language for taking a test):A
PE: B/B (i hate pe)

11thgrade/I am currently taking:
AP Chem: B/B (hoping for a 5)
AP English Comp A/A (high 4/low 5)
AP US History A/A (probably a 4)
Zoology A/A
Animal Behavior A/A
and Math Analysis A/A

Next year probable schedule:
AP Lit
AP Enviromental Science
Animal Husbandry (I figure it sounds cool because I'm working with animals at a zoo and I want to be a vet)
Astronomy/Microbiology (opinions on this? I don't know if I should take it..)
and either AP Photo (because I need a tech art)
or AP physics or AP Calc (kinda scared of that class...)
At community college: child development and Gov/Econ.
Will take the AP exams for gov/econ and possibly self study biology.

I've also taken Psychology at a community college.

EC:
Representative on Student Council Committee (9, 10, probably 12)
Club Fencing (9, 10, 11, 12)
Tennis (9, 10) Maybe Varsity Tennis next year
Animal Fostering from local shelter
Editor of online school magazine
Zoo Volunteer (11,12) 200+ hours
Most likely getting a job at a vets office next year
This summer: Internship at Kaiser
Also: I model. professionally (should I include that? maybe write an essay on it?)

I'll chance back :)

P.S: Applying early decision to Cornell, but I definitely need FA because parents income falls below 40,000 a year, is that a bad idea?
I'm a white female.

If your income is below $60,000 I think Cornell is participating in the new initiative where under that level, you get free tuition.

As for getting in, your GPA could hurt you a bit, but it’s still a possibility. Good luck!

I know somebody who got into Cornell with grades similar to yours, but he was 2 years ahead, and was 16 as a senior… I mean, he did a lot of research, so that’s what ended up getting him in, except he applied RD. With ED, and maybe some research experience, I think you can make it in too. Plus being a female helps, not to be sexist or anything. good luck!

Challenge yourself as a junior. Drop astronomy and take AP physics and AP calculus BC.

Well I am currently a junior, and next year will be a senior, and yeah, I think I’ll probably drop astronomy because it isn’t a requirement or an AP.

Unfortunately I don’t think I can apply for anymore research internships or anything :frowning:
what to do?

Too many bs. Not enough aps. Try and bump up your sat score to at least a 2200 if you do acts you have a september and october date to take them as well so plenty of time for improvement You need a much more rigorous curriculum. I would keep up the animal work and make sure you convey your love for animals in your essays. Modeling’s pretty unique. What are ou goin to be doing at Kaiser?

there are a lot of chances in the summer to increase your course difficulty levels. maybe you could take a couple more ap classes or college-level classes over the summer?
…those can be expensive, though.
but if you could raise your GPA, drop astronomy for microbiology, increase the science courses and raise your SAT score, i would say you have a decent-er chance.
you’ve gotten pretty good grades for your science courses, which is important, due to your goal. plus you have that hook of modeling, rather than just sitting at home all day.

I think you should Early Decision, but I don’t think that you are a shoe-in. You definitely have a chance!

Working in different departments that they have. Hoping to get a slot in the E.R.
well my main B’s are in P.E, and colleges don’t even look at that…

Sent from my DROID2 using CC App

^^^^^^^^
Was a response to what im going to be doing at Kaiser.

Astronomy is first semester and microbiology is the next semester. But its not AP, and that’s a problem.
and figuring out class schedule is hard due to my school seetiation

Your school offers Zoology/Animal Behavior? That is flippin’ awesome!
I have to contradict a piece of advice here though-
as a fellow pre-vetter, I would recommend against writing about your love for animals. It’s contrived, and as Cornell is teeming with wannabe vets, I’m sure it’s something they get a lot. Instead, spin an essay off of your love for the career itself. This way, you sound mature and like you know that going into vet med isn’t about playing with puppies.

If you can bump SATs to 2250+, I’d say you have a great shot. [And at 7+ APs, that’s more than enough]
Good luck!

What do you mean write about my love of the career?
