Chances for Cornell?

I'm a white female high school junior from Long Island, New York.
I attend a large, public school that's fairly competitive. I have taken the most rigorous courses my school has to offer.
I would apply to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as an Animal Science major (I want to be a vet and hopefully attend Cornell's vet school as well).

Essay: Counselor loves it, about why I want to be a vet after witnessing a sick horse and how he was treated and cared for.

Please be honest, do I have a chance for Cornell? And if not, do you have any other recommendations for schools with good biology programs that will give me a good basis for getting into vet school in the future? Thanks!

Nothing really stands out. Slightly below average shot in regular (and cornell only looks at CR+M, so you are disadvantaged), given bio is quite a popular major but slight favoritism may be given to instate residents. You have a shot - go for it.

I think you have a pretty decent resume. Grades with course rigor look good. SAT CR could stand to be a little higher. I think your EC’s are solid. Captain of 2 varsity teams at a large HS is impressive, along with other nonathletic interests. One bit of advice would be to have your AP English teacher read your essay, they should have more expertise than your GC.

I strongly recommend getting in as many more SAT/ACTs as possible, so that you can boost your score, and you should definitely apply early. You’re in a similar situation as I. Our ECs are comparable, our scores are VERY close, as are our "GPA"s…so I’m giving you the same advice that I am personally taking. You should 100% apply Early Decision if you know that Cornell is your first choice. It could easily make the difference. Hope that helps and hope to see you at Cornell! :D
