Chances for Cornell?

I'm a white female high school junior from Long Island, New York.
I attend a large, public school that's fairly competitive. I have taken the most rigorous courses my school has to offer.
I would apply early decision to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as an Animal Science major (I want to be a vet and hopefully attend Cornell's vet school as well).

GPA: 3.9 unweighted, weighted is a 4.45

Ranking: School doesn't have exact ranks, but I'm in the top 10%

Essay: Counselor and English teacher both love it, about why I want to be a vet after witnessing a sick horse and how he was treated and cared for.

Please be honest, do I have a chance for Cornell? And if not, do you have any other recommendations for schools with good biology programs that will give me a good basis for getting into vet school in the future? Thanks!

I’m a Long Islander as well :D

As far as your ACT score goes, it’s not necessary for you to take it again. A 33 puts you above most applicants and getting slightly higher wouldn’t significantly raise your chances.

I’m no expert but it looks like you would be a competitive applicant wherever you apply.

Looks like you have a solid shot early decision. It’s not really worth it to retake. Work very hard on your essays!

Thank you! I’m happy with my ACT score, which is much better than my 1340 CR/M score on the SAT.

Overall a very solid application. Quite honestly, if you don’t get in it’d probably come down to the essay.

I’d say a great shot for ED.

Thank you everyone!
