What has been bothering me is whether that C+ and B- in math and me taking normal math courses in the last two years will kill me. The only thing that I can look at optimistically is that there is an upward trend in my grades and I have stopped slacking off in my final two years in regards to my studies.

ECs:

National Honor Society (ordinary member)
Social Science Honor Society (ordinary member)
English Honor Society President
Spanish Honor Society Secretary
Technology Club- Actively discuss technology and its role in our current society. We also do some service projects, help others at school with comp stuff, and this year I have started up a Robotics Team.
Key Club (ordinary member)
SPORTS-
Cross Country (2 last years)- I ran in districts and qualified for regionals
Track (last 2 years)- Ran in districts
In other words I'm nothing special in sports =(
Writing Club- Besides being somewhat of a book club, we share our written pieces and we make an on-campus literary magazine.

My main emphasis in activities has been service. Ever since I was in elementary, I have been helping out my old parish by being an altar server, lector, etc... I have participated in many of their service projects as well as the ones done by my honor socieities and clubs.

I'll show an example of what our spanish honor society does ( a few of their projects)

"Palmer House- Palmer House is an elderly home in Miami. We have monthly visits to Palmer House in which we plan many activities such as dances, reciting poetry, songs, music, and just allowing the elders there to express themselves and communicate with youth. On Halloween, we all encourage the people living there and the Honor Society members to dress up. On Thanksgiving, we prepare a large thanksgiving meal for them, etc?

Noche Hispana- The first major event of the school year. Students share their culture and Hispanic backgrounds through a variety of dances, music performances, and presentations.

Tutoring- We have tutoring classes for the nearby Elementary school students.

Almuerzo Hispana - Everyone brings their favorite dishes and we sell it during the school lunches."

An interesting service I did (independent of the school) is that was lucky enough to be able to go to Mongolia in the Gobi Desert. There I stayed in a tribal village and helped them with things such as collecting fire wood, milking cows, etc... (lol)

In my first two years of HS, I was at a bit of a disadvantage in my first two years due to economic problems and transportation issues. Basically, I live with my single mother who didn't own a car and I went to the school I am currently attending because I had people to give me rides. We finally got a car during late sophomore year and since then, I have been much more active in school activities. During the first two years, I basically did activities out of school (at my parish mostly).

Um as for hooks- URM... Very, very low income (below $16,000), first generation college student.

Teachers Recs- One was great but nothing special. The other one was amazing.
Counselor Rec- Good.
Essay- In my opinion, avg.

Well, I think that's about all I can remember. I'm sorry to bother everyone again. I'm just a bit nervous and need to get my stats out there and see where I stand.

My issues- My first and second year Math grades, my avg SAT and SAT 2 grades and not having anything big for my ECs... Sure, I do work on a bunch of service projects but stuff like English Honor Society President doesn't seem to be too much of a big deal. I don't know if the urm, income, and first generation will give me a grand push.

Oh wells. Any thoughts?

EDIT: One more question. Can I send an email to Cornell or call them to give them some information I forgot to give them in my common app?"

Bueno that's it! Any comments will be appreciated! Thank you so much!

id say its a high match

How did 3.84 UW translate into 4.7 W ? Those classes pretty average to me.

K dude...stop worrying about those Bs and especially the C because, unless your transcript is dotted (as in many many per year) with them it will make almost no difference..

With that said, slight reach.

Thanks!

Any other comments?

Also, does anybody know the answer to my last question? Can I still send some more info? Like if I have been nominated for an award, or forgot to include something in my common app, etc etc....

Yeah, you can still send them stuff in January & February... I'm probably going to do the same thing this week, because I just got a letter saying that I'm gonna be a featured author in an essay compilation from a publishing company.
So yeah.

I would say high match....
