She love politics and international affairs...especially cultures and languages. And Washington DC.

What are her chances for Georgetown, AU, UVA, etc?? Keep in mind, she'd need financial assistance to get there.

And any advice??

Thanks,
me and her.

PS. I know there's a similar post on this board but Riv's stats and personality are different, so...

American is about a match for her. The SAT scores are way too low for Georgetown, and a bit too low for GWU too, though. Has she taken any AP tests/ what were the scores? If she does well on AP’s and brings the SAT’s up to the 2000 range she’d have a good shot at GWU and somewhat of a chance at Gtown. Also, what is her class rank?

@ superexcited: yeah, i mistyped. and I could never remember which it was anyways.

AP tests are in May, so no scores yet. And our school doesn’t give out official rankings until around the time we graduate, so… BUT, she is very high up in the class, and knowing the students in our school like I do, I’d say she’s top 10%.

Georgetown will be a HUGE reach and their financial aid is not too generous, so unless she is truly captivated, I would suggest that she not bother applying there.

She stands a decent chance of being accepted at GW, but she really needs to bring up that SAT score to be in a comfortable range. They had their most selective year ever this year and the acceptance rate has dropped to 31%. She should shoot to be over 2050, which would put her in the running for one of their merit scholarships, which would be helpful because GW’s financial aid is OK but not great.

I think she is in at American and Catholic as well, although I am not too familiar with the latter.

Univ. of Maryland at College Park should be a safety if she is in-state, match or low match if she is OOS.

UVA is probably a reach, especially with those SAT scores, unless she is in-state. She may also want to check out William & Mary, particularly if she is in-state. I think it is also a reach for an out-of-state student with those stats, though. Keep in mind that UVA is not all that close to DC. Most people I know describe it as in the middle of nowhere.

i had between a 2000-2100 and i didnt get into georgetown but did get into george washington… between all my extracurriculars and grades my guidance counselor thinks that i have a chance at transferring into georgetown if i go to george washington freshman year… btw… both school put a large emphasis on community service…
