Chances for Duke and others...

Hi, I am currently a junior in high school and am wondering what my chances would be for the following schools for engineering:
Duke-Early Decision
Purdue
Georgia Tech
University of Texas-Austin
University of California San Diego
University of Maryland(In State)

Stats:
SAT: 1900 (retaking May)
SAT2: Will take Math 2 and Physics
GPA: 3.5 Unweighted and 4.9 Weighted
Rank: 70ish/350
AP's(Sophomore): Chemistry World History
AP's(Junior):APUSH Calc AB Comp Sci A and English Lang
Next Year(Senior): Calc BC English Lit and Econ along with an Engineering Internship
EC: Various Clubs and officer of Key Club(VP) and Latin Honor Society(VP) also in NHS
Also I am a National Merit Contender(224 PSAT)

Please Let Me Know of My Chances
Thanks!

Wow, what happened between the PSAT and SAT? Right now your unweighted GPA is pretty low and your SAT will probably have to be at least 2100 for Duke. You might have a chance at the other schools, but I’m not as familiar with them

Chance me back!

I think that as of now, your chances are kinda low. Things to work on:

Like the previous person said, your SAT score has to be at least 2100 (preferably 2200+ or 2300+ if you’re Asian like me bleh). Make sure your SAT2s are also 750+, and try to take a 3rd one because I know Duke is really intense on grades and SAT’s. Everything else looks good. Try to improve your GPA by the end of the year. Your chances for all the other schools are good. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/897711-chance-me.html

blueblug, I will chance you, but would you mind letting me know how you linked the “Chance me?” to your thread? Newbie here

Thank you both for the replies… and I know Duke is a big stretch but i figured why not haha. I appreciate everything and will chance you guys as well.

anyone else?

I don’t see much of a problem for any of the universities on the list except for Duke. I will highlight a couple of problems:

Your SAT is too low - bring it up to about 2100.

Your rank is kind of low - hope that your school doesn’t send in rank, only weighted GPA

Get 750+ in Maths II and Physics SAT Subject Tests

Either get more leadership or make yourself standout in terms of extracurriculars.

On the whole, there is still time to bring your rank up to say top 10% of the class, and bring up your GPA. I would say Duke is a high reach at this point in time, but if you do the above it will become a low reach, in my opinion.

I appreciate the reply. My school may or may not send in rank, I am not entirely sure, however my school is currently ranked as the best in my state and in the top 200 in the country, I don’t know if that contributes to anything. I will try my best to improve my SAT and do well on my SATII’s. With respect to the leadership part, I am VP of two clubs(and have been a member of them for 4 years) and a member(for 4 years) of 3 more.

bump thisss
