Chances for Duke, Ivies, and others? Will chance back.

One last chance thread:

Yeah so I posted a chance thread in the Duke forum but hardly anyone posts there so I figured I'd try my luck here. I am currently applying to Duke ED but I have about 10 days to change my application to RD (I am visiting next week for the 1st time). If I don't love it I am going to switch to RD and apply the to following schools RD:

Duke
Stanford (legacy)
Yale
Princeton
Cornell
Dartmouth
U of Chicago
WashU
Columbia
Northwestern
Brown
Dartmouth
(I already have safeties)

STATS

Objective:

GPA: 4.0 UW
Rank: 1/475 (shared with about 9 because there isn't weighting)
Course Difficulty: Full IB / hardest availible
SAT: 2340 (CR:770, M:770, W:800)
ACT: 34 (E:35, M:34, R:33, S:32)

Tennis: (varsity letter, most improved, captian, All-League, district qualifier, etc.)
XC: (varsity letter, most improved, district qualifier, various other awards)
Wrestling: (varsity letter, league champions-team)
Club tennis: (tournament play, lessons, camps, etc.)
Community service: (about 50 hours)
Track: (starting this spring)
Math Club: (10-12)

RANDOM STUFF

School: Public and not at all prestigious
Location: Washington
Race: White
Income: 500,000+

Yeah let me know if I forgot anything and thank you. I'd say that it's about a 50/50 chance that I continue with Duke ED (vs switching to RD) based on the upcoming visit. I am feeling ambivalent mainly because I got a huge SAT score boost right after I applied to Duke and now I'm beginning to consider if I have a chance at slightly more prestigious schools. I would pick Duke over every school on my list except Stanford, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, and maybe Brown (the only one of these I think I have a semi-okay shot at is Stanford because of the legacy).

You look good for Stanford as a legacy. They like non Californian legacies, if you prefer Stanford and are a true legacy (parent attended), I’d switch Duke to RD. The only hitch is I don’t know if Stanford favors legacies who apply SCEA as many schools do.

Duke - I’d say definitely In
Stanford (legacy) - The only thing is you lack community service. So…it might be kinda hard.
Yale - good shot
Princeton - good shot
Cornell - good shot
Dartmouth - In
U of Chicago - In
WashU - In
Columbia - good shot
Northwestern - In
Brown - Pretty much In i’d say

Good grades and scores but nothing stands out about your profile. No real extra curriculars except for sports. Unless you are a recruited athlete, your chances at HYP(S) aren’t great.

^ Yeah I would agree with you on that (although I wish I could believe the earlier chance). However sports do take up massive amounts of time and I can honestly say that I didn’t have much time for more “meaningful” activities while still maintaining my sleep/sanity.

But because your grades are good you are sure to get into at least 1 ivy, imo. So don’t sweat it. Your sports resume is quite impressive lol.

^ Lol thanks. I think of myself more as an athlete that happens to be smart than as a smart kid who trys to be an athlete.

Bump. Anybody else care to weigh in?

I’d say you have a great chance for every single school on the list, only problem is that the top ivies are unpredictable, so it’s really hard to chance either way on those

anyway your numbers are looking really good. Good luck

Definitely in at Duke ED. I’m hoping I get in too lol.
