<p>Hey, I'm new here. Just wondering what you guys think my chances at these schools would be (particularly Duke!), my primary concern is my GPA, but I hope my SAT and languages are enough to counteract it.</p>

Gender: Male
School: crappy public, top ten typically get into the Ivies
State: NY
Hook: Fluent in 5 languages (English, French, Hebrew, German, Hindi), won multiple awards
and contests for French and German</p>
<p>Stats:
SAT:2350 (770M, 800W, 780CR)
SAT IIs: 800 World History, 800 French, 800 Hebrew, 800 German
ACT: 35
GPA: 3.5 out of 4.0 (school doesn't weight grades)
freshman and sophomore my GPA was 3.3, junior/senior i pulled it up to a 4.0 in IB,
is that a good "upward trend" or will they see me as smart and lazy?

Counselor Rec: Good? Don't know counselor very well, she knows I'm motivated.</p>
<p>Extracurriculars: 4 years varsity swimming, 2 letters, captain junior/senior (with a lovely combination of degenerative bone diseases); co-founder of radio show for my school (10,11,12); won around thirty writing competitions at local and national level (in French and English); top contributer on several online sites like Associated Content, co-founder and president of French Honors Society at my school (11,12); National Honors Society (11, 12); winner of three surfing contests (not sure if I should mention that!); co-founder/treasurer of a Marxist club at my school (10,11,12, long story) and member of Jewish Student Union (10,11,12; treasurer in 11/12).</p>
