Chances for Duke University?

<p>I'm currently a sophomore and my GPA is around a 3.0. I pretty much bombed my freshman year but I plan to work hard to make it up and am in the process of doing so right now. </p>

<p>I test well and that will hopefully show on my SAT and ACT's. </p>

<p>I took 3 honors courses last year and am taking 2 honors and 1 AP this year,
and I plan to take a total of 6 AP's throughout high school. </p>

<p>My dream school is Duke and I'd like to major in Political Science. I was open to the transferring idea until I researched and saw the discouraging numbers. </p>

<p>Do you think there is a chance I could still get in? </p>

<p>Probable EC's:</p>

<p>4 years basketball (3 varsity letterwinner)
4 years volleyball (2 varsity letterwinner)
1 year Varsity tennis
4 years Yearbook staff/editorial staff
3 years college partnership program
3 years French Club
3 years Debate Team
2 years DECA</p>

<p>All I can suggest is bring up your grades. And with ECs, you can never tell which ones you will really stick to, so just keep working hard. It's too early to predict anything. You still have standardized testing to do as well.</p>

<p>Post again when you're a junior. My grades weren't too great as a freshman, but I picked things up junior year and significantly increased my GPA because of it. You never know what can happen in 11th grade.</p>
