Chances for Duke, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, will chance back

I'm just finishing up my applications and I was hoping I could see my chances. Please chance me for Duke, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Georgetown. I will chance back!

APs: U.S. Gov't & Politics - 5 (I only have one because I changed schools junior year and my new school doesn't offer them)

Senior Courses: All senior courses are taken at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (so college level/higher than AP level)
-Intro to Biotechnology

-Physics: Mechanics
-Physics: Electricity & Magnetism
-American Dream Literature (Junior/Senior level college course)
-Literature of Sin (Junior/Senior level college course)
-Intro to Philosophy and Religion
-Freedom and Existence (Junior/Senior level college course)

I have 5 published papers, and have completed 2 large-scale research projects (one in biology and one in engineering)

Essays: Excellent
Recs: Excellent (teachers told me that I am "the standard they hold other students to"), and I have an extra one from a US Congressman so that should help

Ethnicity: White, non-hispanic
Income Bracket: Upper Middle Class
No "Hooks"

Fantastic stats. Congratulations! I’d say Georgetown is match. Same with Duke. Yale is a reach for everyone. Low- mid reaches for Dartmouth and Columbia. But in my opinion, I think Georgetown, Duke, maybe Columbia, and most likely Dartmouth will be sending your acceptance letters soon. Wait screw it I just reread you have 5 published papers. If you emphasize those with your other stats, I’d say everyone but Yale is a pretty good shot if your essays are good. Wait screw it again. My reading ability is bad today. The letter from a congressman might just push Yale into low reach/high match territory too. Best of luck!
Chance me back?
In summary,
Georgetown: match
Duke: match
Dartmouth: high match
Columbia: low reach/high match
Yale: low reach/high match

Your chances are as strong as chances get just as long as you are not looking to major in math/physics/cs/engineering

Georgetown: High Match
Dartmouth: Low Reach
Duke: High Match/Low Reach
Columbia: Reach
Yale: Reach

Wow. Everything is really impressive. I’d say you have as good a chance as anyone to get into all of these schools (in fact probably better) and agree with Achilles. That being said, just curious, how do you get a 4.9 GPA with only one AP class and with one semester of classes at WPI?

The 4.9 was a typo, oops! It’s more like a 4.6 but my school does GPA oddly (factoring in the colleges courses make it difficult) so it will probably be recalculated by admissions committees.

You have really very impressive stats, but the schools on your list are generally hyper-competitive - I think you’ll get in at least one of them, though. Shine with your other intangibles,(i.e. essays),since that will set u apart.

Predictions?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1575443-chance-me-my-ed-ea-hyp-mit-please-will-chance-back-3.html</a></p>

No doubt that you will get into all of them truthfully your SATs, Grades, Senior Courseload, and ECs are really good. Unless your grades are super inflated you should be fine…http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1597246-chance-me-harvard-upenn-princeton-stanford-will-chance-back.html#post16763760</a></p>

^You’re kidding right? No one is a definite lock for schools like schools like Yale and Columbia.

^Agree. @Andrew, if you believe that go look at the results threads on the Ivy forums on CC. People with 4.0s and 2400s get rejected and deferred.

You have a good a shot as any! Best of luck

Yale- low reach (its a low reach for everyone)
Columbia- low reach/high match
All others- match

Chance me back plz!

Thanks for all the responses! What kind of chances do you guys think I have of getting merit scholarships at Duke?

I’m looking for more solid information right now, but from what I hear, it’s extremely difficult to get a merit scholarship at Duke. Since you have published papers, and with your awesome stats, you’ll probably be in consideration, but from what I see, the few merit scholarships that Duke gives out are often in an attempt to get students to go to Duke who have been accepted to HYP and haven’t enrolled yet.

Yeah I haven’t been able to find much about the scholarships, but I’d imagine they would be hard to get considering the quality of the school. Thanks for the response!

You have the best possible chance you could give yourself for schools like that, but you never know what happens with top competitive schools like Yale (it’s practically a reach for everyone). But with that said, you definitely have incredible stats and are generally a match for all those schools except the unpredictables like Yale and Columbia. I mean if you don’t have the best possible chance then no one else does hahaha good luck and chance me back please! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1595874-chance-me-ucs.html</a></p>

Georgetown: Match
Dartmouth: Low Reach
Duke: Low Reach
Columbia: Reach
Yale: Reach

Wow dmart! You should be all set for Duke and G’town. The Ivies are probably all tossups/mid-reaches since it’s unrealistic for anyone to have better chances.

Duke is more selective than Dartmouth. As usual, we have a bunch of uninformed high schoolers giving someone bad advice. In other news, the sun will rise tomorrow.
