Member of 3year leadership program for Jewish teens; one of 20 teens selected statewide (2010-present)

Recs: Teacher ones should be good. Guidance counselor rec is probably pretty generic. I also have an additional from my adviser for the school newspaper

Essays: Good.

I feel like my SAT score and ECs might hinder me a little. I never took the ACT. I'm not a member of a ton of ECs, but for each of the ones I've listed I feel like I've demonstrated a lot of commitment to them. Duke is my top choice and I'm hoping that the fact that I visited multiple times and demonstrated a ton of interest including keeping in regular contact with my admissions officer will help. Any chances?

Demonstrated interest in the form of visiting/annoying the adcom is not helpful (at least not for Duke). The only type of demonstrated interest that can help is the “Why Duke” essay that I hope you did.

I did do the essay, my friend who goes to Duke read over it for me and she said it was probably better than hers. Do you think I have any shot?

I think for ED, you have a great shot. RD may be a little iffy. Now, this is coming from another current ED applicant, so take my commendation with a grain of salt.
