I am currently a high school junior (white female), and i dream of going to Duke!

**Please take a look at my credentials and tell me what else I need to be considered! I MAY decide to apply ED when the time comes next fall… how would that affect my chances given the following??

My current SAT score is a 2040 (CR-620, M-650, W-770 10 on essay) I am retaking the SAT this month and hope to score a 2150+

PLEASE READ: I am 100% aware of my SAT score not being up to par with competitive duke applicants, HOWEVER I am registered for the test on Jan 23 and I am confident I can raise my score to at least a 2150, possibly higher. I am working very hard with a private tutor. This post is in ANTICIPATION of a higher score, as I know I have realistically no chance with a 2040.

Besides testing here is a brief overview of my credentials:

I took a college course over the summer at FIT in NY
Crew Team
Marching Band- Flute
Concert Band
Key Club
Interact Club
Relay For Life captain one year
National Math Honor Society
National Science Honor Society
National English Honor Society

National History Day- 3 year participant
Math Tutor
AP Courses

I mean, I’m sure you have a chance with Duke with a 2100+, yes! Absolutely
As long as you are really involved in your school, and your essays are fantastic, I see no reason why you’d be accepted. I just hope you’re really involved in what you do and you’ve spent a great amount of time and most of all, demonstrated passion for your interests.

@dreambig98 not sure if this would count for anything at all, in fact it probably doesn’t but I just wanted to get another opinion! My high school’s mascot is a blue devil so could that potentially be a good little bonus/extra? I haven’t heard of this before which is why I figured I would ask

@shannon14 I think that’d be an interesting way to start off an essay, maybe! But otherwise, really, Duke shouldn’t really give you an advantage for having the same mascot! Good luck! If you have time, please chance me back :slight_smile:
