lols...that doesnt sound strange at all b/c thats exactly what i'm doing.......

its ambition :D

....meanwhile, all my dad keeps on talking about is harvard and what not...

Oh my gosh. kid. Your in. And this is from a fellow extremely competitive Asian. Wow. I am totally envious :(

it's people like YOU that make me feel unworthy of being korean

i don't think the 77% will hurt you and even if it does, it will do minimal damage. good luck to you!

i think you have a good chance. but even with stats like as yourself, noone is guaranteed in (unless its immaculate, spick and span, covers every single aspect of the book perfectly, wtever). i personally think rather than getting encouragement and self-esteem from fellow cc members by boasting stats, the time is more well spent working on them essays. just try your best, shoot for the moon! no matter where what happens, something always comes out of it. and posting these stats pretty much turn off many cc members (even myself). and those of you who are sulking to his stats, looks like you've got work to do! instead of wondering why cant my stats be like that, make an effort so that it'll look like that! so please people, don't make sarcastic or mean remarks because he posted his intimidating stats (i've got to admit, from a fellow korean it is intimidating!) and that seems like he's boasting. i've got to tell you, you'll get nothing but "that's really good, you have a good chance" and all related statements by putting up your stats. i mean, what are you expecting? encouragement? criticism? hey, we should have an encouragement board! i'm rambling here, but my point:

If you want to put up your stats, that's fine. I guarantee you that you'll get nothing more but the statements that has been already said, somethin like "that's real good, you have an awesome chance" or either "you stuck-up @#$#%, go show off somewhere else".
and people who respond, don't say mean things! it's not nice. might as well polish you own stats rather than saying mean remarks.

wow that was long

"and those of you who are sulking to his stats, looks like you've got work to do!"

I agree with this freshie...who really has time to give a crap if someones app looks good over the computer. And no this persons not a shoe-in...no is..how can you even think of saying that without reading one essay or seeing one teacher rec?

DiveAlive-

Oh no, not at all, I was just wondering why it had to be NATIONAL instead of just being like a county championship or an interschool scholastic award.

woah, freshie123... u are like my idol right now...
amazing words spoken to my fragile ears..
it feels as though i havent heard true words spoken
in a while :]

You have an excellent paper application - truly, great.

But that's all we (everyone on these boards) can judge.

So, unless you post recommendations, essays, tapes of your interviews, SSAT essay, etc., than we can't give you a potent answer.

keep the posts coming !!! :]
wow, thanks guys, but im getting really stressed because on these threads everybody seems amazing :(, but thanks

haha, note the part where you said "on these threads". now imagine what a mediocre/average applicant is like.

there. feel any better? :P
i'm pretty sure the people with weaker stats aren't posting, because.. they're intimidated. sort of like me. i'll post for chancing as soon as my SSAT scores arrive, but they haven't come yet! arghh.

That 77% in reading might hurt you a bit at E/a. Seeing as you're good at writing, it seems strange that your reading score is kind of low.. You have a good chance but there are a lot of competitive Koreans out there and only about ~17 Koreans are accepted into the freshman class.

No...people that arent posting for chancing don't really value the opinion of little kids. If your confident of what you've done or what your passionate about, you don't really need a million people to feed you confidence. You should already have it...I posted one awhile ago when I first came here. Then I realized...what do they know? If anything I know just as much or more than they know..why can't I self-evaluate my self.

Not putting down people who ask, some people just don't need it...doesn't mean they have weaker "stats". Means they don't need the glory or don't really value it as much as others.

i wasn't addressing people who weren't posting: i was addressing people with weaker stats. such as me.
& besides: people have different personalities: some are insecure and need reassurance while others have extreme confidence. 2 opposite sides of the spectrum ..
confidence, i find, is something that eventually develops (i'm speaking from personal experience, so this might not apply to others), and maybe the confidence hasn't necessarily kicked in yet: so chancing might be valuable/assuring to these people. it never hurts to make people feel better (unless they're cocky or something)
if somebody posts for the glory, then yeah, that's pretty pathetic, but there ARE people out there that really appreciate/need the chancing, although the "needing part" i find rare on CC because everybody's just so darned brilliant. well, almost everybody. some under-qualified people SHOULD get chancing so they won't waste their parent's money applying & taking the SSATs, you know?

then again, this is just personal opinion, so i'm open to everything :P

Ya I understand, but I never got the perception that most were doing to to see if they were going to apply to the school. In general Im fine with most chance threads it the comments like "O ya your definitely in" that kind of get me to think. If there was a certain way your stats had to look on paper or your essays had to be written to gain admittance then everyone would do it that way and it will evanesce in no time.

Comment like "Your in the running" or "You have an a chance...improve so and so" seem to help OP a lot more. If everyones answer is "OMG your in I feel so stupid"...then the original poster probably was posting for good comments. Thats just how I perceive it.

omg im sooooo anxious...
anyone know what the acceptance %age is for koreas to HADES? and choate :]
omggggg, fellow koreans are my competition!!!? @%$#%@&%^% dammit >.<
i know two people JUST IN TEXAS who have an amazing chance to make it...
and they're both KOREANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, how many koreans apply each year?

i'm not sure, but i read somewhere that 17 koreans got in one school! that's alot, if you ask me. this was solely freshman year, by the way. (i forget where i read this, but i'm sure if you dig a little, you'll find it!)

hm. and all this time, i thought being chinese/japanese would be a huge anti-hook, but it seems that koreans are much, much more active on CC and perhaps boarding schools in general? :P

hahaha....HADES? nice :D

I think it helps us that we are asian because these schools are all about diversity, including ethnic.

^ I agree (though I'm not asian) the schools want to be very diverse, not one certian "race"

Dive- I think I know where your read that lolz points to theaznexonian's post
