Hey, after researching Chicago, everything about it, I feel like I'd love to go to school there. I'm up for the workload and I'd like to be challenged academically and mentally rather than have a preprofessional experience, and I'm definitely applying here Early Action. My essay will be about a hip hop group and how they had a huge influence on my life (I'm now a recognized producer and rapper in the NJ/NY scene, known for deep storytelling lyrics)... Let me know what you think about my chances!

I will most likely be majoring in History with a minor in Anthropology- I want to be an archaeologist.
I'm a lower middle class white male, northern NJ.
I'm all state in swimming and baseball.
I'm the President of my Keystone Club, member of NHS, have hundreds of hours of community service.

SATs: 730 CR, 700 W, 570 M or 2000/2400, 1300/2000 (yes, I know my math sucks and brings my app down significantly)

SAT IIs: World History 770, Literature 660

AP US History Exam: 5

GPA: 90/100 unweighted, 94/100 weighted (about 3.5 UW, 3.9 W)

Anything else you need lmk, and please reply because I'd really like to get in here- thanks!!

also, my class rank is top 15% out of 764 students in my class.

Boys State delegate, Most Outstanding Candidate at Naval Academy Summer Seminar, Rookie of the Year for school athletics, Boys and Girls Club Boy of the Year, have two As in college courses at Georgetown I paid for myself this summer.

Interesting, I’m also interested in U Chicago and my stats are very similar, 2080 SAT, 800 CR, 700 W, 580 M, with a 94.4 weighted gpa and an interest in majoring in history. I’m Latino and my dad got his PHD at at the school, so I suppose your chances are about as good as mine. Either way good luck!

Also, you may want to try the chances threads rather than the U. Chicago one directly. You’ll prolly get more responses.

You both have a pretty solid chance at UChicago. I’m Latino, I was top 1% of 787 students, ACT composite score was 29, I had a 1980 SAT, 690 CR, 680 W, 610 M, so my test scores weren’t stellar but I had plenty of extracurriculars, a sport, and a summer internship.

Your stats are good, but you guys should try to raise your math scores a little bit, I was afraid mine wasn’t going to cut it. Barakus, I’m guessing you have some other extracurriculars, but your other stats are great.

Also, what I believe really got me into school was my writing. You guys must’ve heard that they like the quirky, weird writing there. Mine was a little bit out there, I chose to write about the two kinds of people in the world and used Mexican food as a central point, but make sure to keep your writing honest and interesting. Also, try to EA!

Good luck!

Hey, I’m an international student from Canada taking the IB program. I am a pretty good student with an average of about 90%+ throughout my high school career. In my grade 11 year, I had an average of 90%.

I was wondering what my chances of getting accepted EA into UChicago were, considering the recent change in admission statistics.

My SAT I scores were CR 730, M 760 and W 650. SAT II scores were Lit 750, Chem 740, and Math I 720.

My extracurricular’s range from leadership positions in environment clubs and Leo’s clubs, to student government and lab work at a federal biological station. I am also president of our school’s Philosopher’s club.

I want to take International Relations and focus on the Arts, but my marks in that area are weaker. I have really high marks in the Sciences, but I don’t feel as impassioned to pursue an interest…

Any input or help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
