Hi. I am going into my senior year and plan to apply for an early action decision at UGA. I really want to go to UGA and if I can get in through early action I won't apply to a lot of other colleges. Given how hard it is to get into UGA now, do you think I can get in through early action with the following statistics:

ACT - 31 (or 32 super-scored between 2 tests)

GPA - 3.89 (unweighted GPA in my core academic classes)

AP classes - 2 my junior year (received As in both)
4 my senior year + a college class each semester

Rigor of curriculum - a mix of honor and regular classes

Thanks!

There is a super slim chance you’ll be rejected EA, so you might as well try. EA is non-binding and allows you to apply to other schools at the same time, so I would apply to a few other schools that you are interested in just in case (2 or 3 is probably enough). It’s gotten very competitive since I got in, but I’d say you have a fair chance of getting in EA.

I think the 2 things that are going to hurt you are your GPA and your rigor of curriculum. From my experience, this is what UGA considers to be most important:

SAT/ACT (VERY important)
Rigor of curriculum (IB students are given an immense amount of preference)
GPA

That being said, I think your high ACT will almost definitely get you in, but if you do get deferred (I would be shocked and appalled if you got rejected EA), I would say that you have a 99.9% chance of getting in RD. If you got your ACT up 2 more points, you could probably get into honors, which has a ton of benefits
