Chances for Early Admission

<p>I plan on applying for Early Action to Georgia Tech as an International Student (Indian) living in Nigeria. It would be helpful if my you could help predict my chances.</p>

<p>Major - Chemical Engineering</p>

<p>SAT - 2070 (800M, 630CR, 640W 8- Essay)
SAT II - Math II 800, Chemistry 760, Physics 750
ACT - Taking in October (Predicting a 32)</p>

<p>G.P.A - I heard that Georgia Tech only considers core classes and gives a +0.5 point to IB classes. This is the breakdown of my G.P.A</p>

<p>Freshman Year (Only 1 semester since I transfered to this school only during second semester)

<p>Sorry for the long post, but could I know my chances for EA at Georgia Tech?</p>

<p>I’d say you have a pretty good shot. You’ll have to increase your SAT score by a bit, or at least make sure you get a 32 or higher on the ACT. Georgia Tech doesn’t require subject tests, but those are good scores to show anyways. If you calculated the GPA correctly, that would put you just under the average GPA for this year’s accepted class, which was 4.0 and the SAT was 2151.</p>

<p>Definitely apply EA though, the EA acceptance rate was around 55% but the regular was 18% or something like that. Best of luck.</p>

<p>GT no longer recalculates GPA. Because they did recalculate GPA’s last year it’s sort of hard to say what this years incoming class’s GPA actually is without the weighting. The only thing I can think of is to look back at the posts from this year and see if people put their non-weighted gpa down … That might give you a better an idea.</p>

<p>I think your EC’s alone could get you in since you don’t have absolutely terrible stats. Your stats are still below average, but your still in their competitive range. However, your EC’s are remarkable. You could still take the SAT or ACT again, but I think you have a really good shot. (Just for reference, there were people who got into Stanford with 1700s on their SAT’s, but their EC’s were so good that they got in)</p>

<p>Yeah you’ll get in. The 800 math is very helpful and might make up for your meh CR and W, especially as an international student- maybe less advanced English knowledge is expected? Regardless, I’d be shocked if they didn’t take you.</p>
