I have about 300 community service hours logged in right now. I am also aware that my GPA, SAT, and class rank are a bit low, but I am currently working on improving my SAT. My GPA took a hit during my Freshman year because I had a hard time adjusting to a new home and a more structured environment. It’s been on a major upward trend ever since though. I have an extreme passion for history which I hope I can pursue through Emory. I want to major in Business and minor in European History. Thanks again!

Very good chances. I loved Emory too when I visited last weekend! But I’m applying RD.

@anxiousenior1 I’m hoping to do a tour sometime next month! I heard the campus was simply BEAUTIFUL. The big things I’m worried about on my app is how I have a low GPA and classic rank.

You should be fine with the major upward trend as long you mentioned about your difficulties somewhere in the application.

I made an account just to answer you. Our stats are actually extremely close and I applied ED1. You should get in no problem

It’s really encouraging to hear that! Will Emory accept the January 2016 SAT for RD and ED?

Pretty similar stats to me, I am also applying to ED II. I’d say good chances. What is your ED I ?

@cappex I never applied ED I if that’s what you’re asking. And thank you!

The good thing is that Emory does not look at freshman year grades because it believes that a) it was a transition year between middle school and high school, and b) it was too far back that it does not very accurately portray you as a student now. So, your GPA would be much higher on the Emory scale!

@rokun123 I actually researched this and could not find anything indicating that Emory does not look at freshman grades.

@cappex One of the admissions counselors came to my school for college visits and college presentations and he mentioned a couple of times that Emory does not look at freshman year’s grades. I also read it somewhere online a long time ago but can’t find the link. If I find it, I’ll definitely post the link here.

@rokun123 If that is true then my UW GPA gets bumped up by .2 points
