I'm a strong writer, so I hope that helps. I've had a few outside things with writing. Not particularly notable for the college app.

Your stats do not differentiate you from the rest of the applicant pool. You need to show your passion for writing. Be sure to include some of your best pieces(yes, even if the application doesn’t ask for it) and any awards for writing.

Otherwise, while you are qualified, I think your chance is about the same as the general applicant pool-%20.

I should even if the app doesn’t ask for it? How should I send extra writing?

Just send copies of 3-4 of your best pieces, esp if some have won awards. Put a short cover letter on top stating you know this isn’t a usual part of the application, but you would really appreciate your admissions liason spending the time reading them because your strength doesn’t show from your stats and you really would be a great addition to the Midd student body. It shouldn’t be more than 4-5 pages total.

My writer award winning student newspaper editor son w/2240 SATs and an 800 in cr was wait-listed. I had suggested he send his stuff initially. He had refused because “they don’t ask for it”. You bet he sent his stuff once he was wait-listed.

Thank you so much. I will definitely be sending in my writing :).

You know, think of it this way. Artists, performers and athletes send supplements. This is your “special talent”.
