Hi, I'm new to College Confidential but I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out my chances for Washington University in St. Louis, early decision. Here's my info:

I go to a rather challenging prep school in Santa Cruz where earning an A is very difficult (but, of course, possible).

I’m not quite sure what you mean by depth… I certainly have a prolonged interest in (backed up by 3+ years of time spent on) journalism. The activities I did during the summer took up my entire weekdays and, at least this summer, much of my weekend.

I agree with Ryan- your stats look great. It sounds like you have a true passion for journalism. Perhaps you can make this a focus of your essays if this is a big part of who you are (it sounds like it is). Make sure your teachers know of this passion so that they can convey it in their LOR. My son will be starting at WUSTL this fall. It’s a phenomenal school. And as a word of advice, people like Ryan, onecot, and RavnzCroft (sorry if I didn’t mention so many others) are students at the school and were so helpful and instrumental in my son choosing WUSTL over JHU and University of Michigan. Good luck to you, and best of luck in the process!

That was what I was getting at, sorry for being unclear. As it appears you are very dedicated to the ECs that you chose, I think that with good “subjectives” you’ll have a really good shot at being accepted (relatively, of course).

I think you will get in ED!
A great major for your interest is PNP (Philosphy Nueroscience Psychology)
I want to be a psychiatrist as well - I am majoring in PNP and am premed.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
Onecot59: do you like WashU? I’m not sure whether to apply ED, and it seems like we are similar… I’d love to hear your thoughts on the school and what it’s like to be premed.
