Chances for ED?

I did a very similar post on the "what are my chances?" forum but I figured I'd do this specifically for Northwestern. sorry this is so long!

Other Accomplishments:
Center for Talent Development-Summer program where you take classes at Northwestern University for 3 weeks (I've done this for about 7 years every summer)-Summer 06-Latin I, 07-Psychology, 08-Human Bio

Saturday Enrichment Program-Taking classes on Saturdays at Northwestern. I've done this for about 6 years. Freshman year I took LATIN II Honors.

NJCL-Latin convention over the summer. I was the only one from my school to attend since my school does not have Latin & I took it over the summer and on Saturdays at Northwestern. --Summer 07

NYLC-Leadership Convention in Washington DC --Summer 08

Northwestern College Prep Summer Program--Summer 09. Getting college credit for taking a college class at Northwestern for 3 weeks.

*I plan on continuing studying Latin on my own during senior year. I unfortunately have had little time my sophomore and junior year to do this.

Any chances would help! I think my biggest weakness is not having any major leadership positions in high school extracarriculars.

Your transcript, class rank and ACT are all very competitive. I think you hit the nail on the head with your closing observation; that’s your principal weakness. (Also, your Eng Lit SAT Subject Test.)
But your strengths, combined with an ED application, will make you a reasonably strong candidate. FInally, your AP scores on US History and English could be important, and your first term senior year grades - if your school has quarter grades (the only way to get grades in for ED) - will give you a better idea of just how competitive you’ll be. A couple of 5s (by the way, AP scores are available by phone today) and straight As this fall would be a big boost.

Oh & I got a 10 on the ACT essay

I also got a 4 on my AP English and a 5 on my AP US History.

You certainly a unique case.

Your GPA/SAT are just above NU’s median, but not by an overwhelming amount. So on the big stuff, you have a really good chance, but not an auto-admit.

Also the lack of ECs is a problem. You can try to develop the “self-study Latin” thing, but I’m unsure how that will take you.

On the flip side, there is little doubt that you want to attend NU. Applying ED is the ultimate sign of desire, but you have a lot of experience w the university. While applying ED gives everyone a slight edge, I would have to think the admissions office would be pleased to know that someone so familiar with the university through summer programs remains committed to NU.

Using my uber-crude measurements, I’d say the lack of ECs sort of cancels out your multiple experiences w NU. Leaving your numbers, I’d say you have a good chance, but admissions is a crapshoot.
