Chances for Emory and Vanderbilt...

<p>I think I'll get into these schools from comparisons of SAT scores and et cetera, but I think my EC's and Community Service are a little weak </p>

<p>MSE magnet program at Suncoast High School (Ranked #5 by Newsweek, yeah I know the ratings are kinda screwy.)
GPA - Unweighted: 3.76
GPA - Weighted: 4.60
Class Rank: 45/297</p>

<p>SAT I Math: 720
SAT I Critical Reading: 780
SAT I Writing: 600</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
School Newspaper, NHS, Operation Smile</p>

<p>Leadership positions: Editor in Chief and Opinions Editor of school newspaper</p>

<p>Volunteer/Service Work: 140 Hours, various stuff</p>

<p>Honors and Awards: AP Scholar With Honor, National Merit Top Scorer (don't know if I did better yet), NSHSS, 1st place in Newspaper General Excellence at 2 Local High School Journalism Contests (Palm Beach Post & Sun Sentinel)</p>

<p>I got waitlisted at Emory with an inferior GPA, 2140/1390 SAT and 33 ACT. I think your chances are pretty good.</p>

<p>I'd be surprised if you didn't get in to both. The only problem you might have is the low writing score, but it shouldn't hurt (many schools say specifically that they don't even LOOK at it).</p>
