Bad Things: No Connections, 3 other kids applying in my grade (All Guys)

Good Thing: Emory has higher girl to guy ratio so I guess that helps except not so much when other 3 are guyz lol

Lemme hear what people think about my chances at Emory as well as the rest of the schools on my list:

Vanderbilt
Michigan
Johns Hopkins (Humanities)
Colgate
GW (Double Legacy)
Wisco
NYU

Hopefully Ill be singin Ray Charles and Ludacris next fall with my fellow Emoryites!

You look like you have a good application. I am always an ED Emory I student. Good luck

I think that you're good everywhere except possibly colgate and hopkins

Hopkins i think id get in cause we know some1 and Humanities is DRASTICALLY easier to get into because they need humanities students.

What do you think about my chances at Emory Ed1?

Emory wont except all 4 of you... so how do you rank among them... good ec's but SAT is on the low side... depends on muchas cosas man..

what does muchas cosas mean?

many things.. my bad... i was doing spanish h/w at the time

umm i think your SATs are great, considering you're applying ED I and their avg SAT score is a 1300 i think you're covered. I know Emory is very welcoming to ED applicants so if I were you I would be very confident with my application

Is the ED average SAT 1300? I never saw that stat.

the average SAT score is 1380... I don't think Emory posts the average ED stats

Glad to hear some encouraging comments during this VERY stressful time. Lol. I hope your fortune for me is read the right way. Are you applying early anywhere

i think emory is more interested in EC's and a holistic approach to the application than GPA. at least thats what i'm hoping... (i applied ED too).

also, i am one of 3 people applying to emory ED from my school too.. my guidance counselor said that it won't matter, that i am not competing with the people from my high school any more than i am competing with the rest of the applicants, but i find this hard to believe...

True and not true. You may be compared to others from you own school to see how difficult your class load is compared to the other 2.

hmm.. yeah i think their gpas may be slightly higher than mine... but i did get a better grade in psych than at least one of them, becuase she sits next to me... and she wants to major in psych (and i dont)! good, right? even though shes done better than me in the past? (constant improvement has been a major thing for me, im hoping this shows on my app since my gpa isnt incredible.)

Good Luck Spencer!

Your counselor is full of s**t. I read an article about how UPenn admits and rejects kids and it went in depth as to why. One of the quotes during the admissions process was that " If we admit this kid early what kind of message does that send to the rest of the school?" So yes, you are in competition with the kids from your school, whether you like it or not

yeah i pretty much knew that was true, i read it somewhere also which is why i said it was hard to believe. just staying optimistic.
oh and by the way, 3 guys at my school just got into dartmouth ED... there is hope!

umm by the way i go to a high school just down the street from Emory called Paideia and two years ago 7 people from our graduating class of 100 went to Emory, just something to keep in mind.
