Chances for engineering honors?

I'd just like to see if my app is decent for Engineering Honors.
SAT 1:
Total: 2210
CR: 730
Math: 800
Writing: 680
Sat 2's:
Math 2: 800
Physics: 780
As for course load, I have taken every AP/DC course offered to me thus far. I also took Calc BC and Physics C as a junior and did well. My school doesn't give us GPA's on a 4.0 scale but my uw gpa out of 100 is 94.7 which is equivalent to a 4.0 (according to college board anyway)
I'm ranked 30 out of ~710 people in a decently competitive school.
EC's:
I've been in marching band 4 years, jazz band 2, and symphony orchestra 2, playing solos in the top ensembles. I'm in NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Science NHS, and Science Olympiad (President). In Science Olympiad I got 1st place in an event this year at state, and placed in others. I went to Texas Boys State a few weeks ago, it's a national leadership and citizenship program. Im going to be recognized as a Commended Scholar and a National Hispanic Scholar in september for psat scores. I have had a job as a math tutor for about a year, working even during marching season, tutoring people in everything from basic math to Calc 2.
If this matters, I'm white (although part Hispanic), male, live in Houston, and my family makes in the vicinity of 100-130K a year (although my parents divorced in April).
Thanks for reading this, any advice/input,criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Engineering Honors student here. Honestly, I think you have an excellent shot. My advice would be apply early and nail the essays.

Feel free to ask any questions you have about the program, and good luck on your apps!

Thanks! I’ve done some research into the honors program, but a lot of people have said that it’s just a name on a degree. That can’t be true can it? It sure seems like you’ll get to know professors better.

it really isnt that big of a deal. to get to know profs better, be active in class and take advantage of research opportunities. Once you graduate, employers dont care that much about it. The biggest perk is the honors dorms, which are pretty nice.

Engineering Honors is 99.9% dependent upon your SAT (M+CR) score. Usually the cutoff is around 1480. I have been told this information by numerous faculty in the engineering department, including the head of the honors program. As for Engineering Honors itself, it is more like a title and not a program. There are a few perks, but in the end nobody cares about it in employment.

Thanks, I thought as much. I’ll shoot for it because of the housing then :P
