Columbia, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Tufts, RPI, GIT, UMichigan.. Are there any others I should be looking at?

Now assuming my ECs are DECENT.. not amazing.. are these schools good fits? Are there any other schools I should be considering?

If you’re looking to do chemical engineering, you should definitely apply to schools like Caltech, MIT and Stanford. These are the top 3 schools in the nation for chemical engineering. Don’t be daunted by these schools because I really think you stand a great shot at them (esp. Caltech) because of your great math and science SAT scores. Caltech also only requires two subject test scores, so you don’t have to worry about your biology score. All the best!

Rice University has an incredible Materials program, and the vast resources of Houston to supplement it.

Perhaps consider some of these for matches as you have all reaches.

Definitely consider Lehigh and Bucknell. Both have excellent engineering programs.

I was thinking a SUNY or CUNY school as being a safety, but I don’t know which. City College is the only CUNY school with engineering I think so I’ll add that as a safety (and I can apply to the honors college too). But idk about the SUNYs. But I definitely will have safeties

EDIT:

I took the SAT 1 once… do I need to retake? I’m really bad at the CR part (Despite being able to do the AP Englishes and score a tad higher on Lit SAT2…) so I really do not know if I will be able to increase much. If I retake and my CR score goes down a little, will it look bad?

It’s alright, you definitely do not have to retake the SAT. From what I know, 680 is competitive for schools like Caltech since your math and science scores are good, so don’t worry.

Update with ACT scores?

Composite- 34
E 32
M 36
R 32
S 36

I want to bump this again with AP scores

AP Eng Lang (4)
AP Chemistry (5)
AP USh (5)
AP Calc BC (5)

Again, looking for top materials or chemical… preferrably east cost
